The rest of the time he fought bums and clowns like Donut Dan Iron and Frankie Gavin, and lost the other times he stepped up. His record is utterly appalling.

Wouldn't have minded if he at least defended against some british titlists. Apparently Frank wanted to get him Cornelius Bundrage, and later he was offered Smith for the wbo light middle before he took on GGG which was really stupid match making in my eyes and ruined him. Him v Liam Smith would have been good!

Must be hard to get a standard job after boxing. Kendall Holt retrained as a medical screener https://www.ringtv.com/547486-at-nj-hof ... ght-again/

Zab Judah was working with nurses at a care home for people with dementia https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.tmz.co ... -patients/

It must be tough to scale the heights of boxing then live in relative anonymity doing a bit of every day grafting. I hope Kell finds happiness.

Bad move, best to go out on a win, money in the bank and in good health than risk it. Some guys struggle to walk away and boxing is all they know, he should look to go into PT, coaching or some other background role in boxing

A shot to bits Brook who’s been taking cocaine and up to god knows what else is easy money for Benn. Wouldn’t go past a few rounds.

Yeah it’s tough. I mean Kell obviously misses the discipline and routine. I mean imagine if you had to retire from your normal job at 35, it would be infuriating… not knowing what to do. How to fill the time in.

PT, coaching, etc is not for everyone and might just give him the itch to fight again. It’s a tough one. Especially for a party guy with money like Kell

I’m not a fan of these exhibitions but I think they only really make financial sense for the icons of the sport, otherwise there isn’t enough interest there for the general public.

better for the fighters than getting battered in an actual pro bout , i dunno why people are so against them. but you're probably right about kell not having many lucrative exhibition options, but perhaps it could feed some of his desire to stay in the game

Whilst I don’t have any interest in watching them, obviously if a fighter can use exhibitions to continue to earn and scratch that itch to fight then ultimately it’s better than them being fed to some young up and comer.

Hearn on Kell Brook: “I Hope We See Him Back; Still Has a Lot That He Can Offer”

“I don’t know, I have not spoken to him for a while,” Hearn said of Brook’s status in an interview with Boxing Social. “He’s been a little bit quiet. The thing is with Kell, you need to give him the time to prepare for a fight and it’s difficult to commit to a fight that far out. If Kell needs 16 weeks or whatever it is to make 150 or more likely 154, can you get a fight agreed within that time frame? If February 3rd, Conor Benn—he wouldn’t be ready for February the 3rd, in my opinion, because it’s only nine weeks. So, it’s difficult for the guys that have been out of the ring for a while that need that extra time to actually make the time frame work.

“I hope Kell fights again because he still has a lot that he can offer. You saw it in the Amir Khan fight. I still like Conor Benn against Kell Brook. I don’t know if he’s in the gym. I hope we see him back.”

Retire and do what?

Only so much partying, lounging and travelling you can do.

Kells a nice guy and very witty. He should get himself about the boxing circuit, like Froch has done. Forget about letting no marks like Benn feast on his reputation.

Kell’s not as charismatic as Froch. Also Froch really crossed over with the Groves fights whilst Kell never quite hit that level.

What the fk is Eddie on other than potential ££s?

Kell was done some time ago. Great send off 2 years ago vs Khan, earned his money, but come off it.

Answered your own question here. Guessing he's willing to do whatever it takes to find a way of getting a return on his investment in Benn.

Froch is Froch, so Kell would be best just being himself and try to get into the pundit/commentry side of things that way.

As difficult it must be for high profile boxers who made millions and then retired in their mid/late 30`s, its got to be a million times harder for the local ticket seller who only made a local reputation to retire in their mid/late 30`s without the millions.

Both typically sacrifice education in pursuit of their boxing dream and as such their CV`s are pretty useless for better paid jobs. Doorman or taxi driver jobs for awhile for lots.

Kell Brook is still in an enviable position. People shouldn`t be too upset.

“I’m in the shadows at the minute, doing my thing, I’m retired and we’re getting involved in summat a bit deep here, but I’m always up for a challenge if it makes sense for me and it’s the right amount of Benjamins we could do it. But unless it becomes serious I’m happily retried with my pipe and slippers.”

He was then admitted the Benn match-up would give him the necessary motivation.

“I’m the biggest name and if it was announced I was fighting one of [Benn or Chris Eubank Jr] it would sell out. I would definitely get out of my silk sheets for [a fight with Benn] and train hard but I don’t know what’s happening with them.”
