Vic Toweel vs. Danny O'Sullivan

Post by The Keed »

Sullivan was down something like 14 times in this fight, which is a record for a title fight.

Does anyone have any other details about this fight they can share... like why on earth a guy was allowed to go down 14 times before a fight was stopped?!?! :o :x

This guy must've been the bravest fighter that ever lived, getting up from the canvas at least 13 times.

The only guy in the world braver than the fighter was the ref.

You obviously have not seen Balboa Vs Drago.

Oh wait, That was a non title match.

My mistake.

Actually, I've just found an article about this fight. It says that O'Sullivan was actually down 20 times :o ... but I guess a fight with that many knockdowns it's hard to keep count. O'Sullivan won the first round, then Toweel won almost every round after that and floored him in most of the rounds. O'Sullivan was down 6 times in the 6th round. The fight was stopped in between the 10th and 11th rounds.

Well, I guess I've just answered my own question. :D
