Claressa Shields vs. Natasha Jonas - Who wins?
Claressa Shields would love a fight with Natasha Jonas, says promoter Dmitry Salita
Claressa Shields is reportedly awaiting a response from Natasha Jonas’ team to see if a deal can be struck.
Claressa Shields made her dreams come true after becoming undisputed champion in her last outing, but she’s not looking to pack it up just yet. Instead Shields has her eyes on a fight against Natasha Jonas, in a fight that would be a pretty big event in the U.K.
Sheilds’ promoter, Dmitry Salitas, says their team is all in on that fight and are currently awaiting a response from Jonas’ team to see if they can start putting everything together.
“We love the fight,” Salita told Sky Sports. “The ball is in Natasha’s court I know she talked about wanting to fight Claressa but has not stepped up to the plate to accept it after receiving an offer.”
Salita continued by saying Shields would be more than happy to go on the road and fight Jonas in her home country of the U.K., as they love the enthusiasm and general boxing culture in the country.
Jonas is most recently coming off a unanimous decision win over Marie Eve Dicaire last November and doesn’t currently have anything scheduled. We’ll keep you posted to see if a fight between Shields and Jonas gains any traction.

Re: Claressa Shields vs. Natasha Jonas - Who wins?
Jonas is good but not good enough to overcome the size. She would still be the underdog if she was a natural Super Welter/Middleweight but she would have a much better chance.
Theres more money for Shields if she can drop down to Super Welterweight while she still can with opponents like Jonas, Braekhus and Harper while the likes of McCaskill, Cameron and possibly the lightweights may be willing to meet in the middle for the money. I think Welterweight could be too much of a weight cut though

Thing is I imagine 154 is Shields ideal weight in as much as she'd have to cut a bit of weight to make it. Jonas weighs in at 149 for her title fightds at might middle and could probably make 135 at least in reality. So that fight is a huge light middle vs a lightweight. Could argue it's a dangerous fight to make.

Jonas comes across a lovely woman but the 3 fighters she’s won belts off were absolutely shite. Shields should win comfortably.

Claressa Shields Will Not Be Facing Marshall or Jonas Next, Says Shalom
Promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer has indicated that undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields will not face Savannah Marshall or Natasha Jonas in her next fight.
Shields was in action back in October, when she picked up the biggest win of her career with unanimous decision win over Marshall to unify the middleweight division.
There was initially talk of having an immediate rematch between the two - but there was also talk of Shields dropping back to 154-pounds, to face Jonas for her WBO, WBC, IBF titles.
According to Shalom, Shields is not interested in having her next fight take place in the UK.
"We offered her a rematch [with Marshall] in the UK, she doesn't want to fight in the UK which is fair enough," Shalom told Sky Sports.
"I think that they're looking at an option in the US, hopefully on Sky. It won't be Jonas and it won't be Marshall. We made the offer that we needed to for her to come back for the rematch and it was turned down. I think the general point is she doesn't want to fight in the UK next."
Shalom still expects a Shields vs. Marshall rematch to happen down the line.
"It will happen. To be fair she [Shields] feels it isn't the right time," Shalom said. "It's not the natural time for it. Maybe the rematch is at 168lbs where it's a bit more even. We are likely to announce a big fight for Savannah in the next week."
Shalom will also be finalizing a fight for Jonas, for a date in May or June.
"She will have another fight," he said. "We think we've got a big fight for her. Probably announce that within the next week. We will have big news for both of them [Marshall and Jonas] in the next week or so."
