Conor Benn - What Next?

I imagine the board will follow what they did for Haye v Chisora

Not I’m not sorry
This will be PPV probably
Not paying for this nonsense
That's an excellent fight guaranteed.
What better than a guy taking over a fight, then getting stopped?
It's like peak Amir Khan all over again, edge of the seat stuff

I was wondering if The Board was going to take this line. Hearn often acts like he’s above being licensed, but of course he’s not. Get back in your box! You’d have to wonder if the DAZN Group would want to be associated with such unethical behaviour either.

The BBBofC have already sent letters to their licence holders.
I am confused… as I agree with their approach to Team Benn …
But I disagree with their approach to working on shows outside of their jurisdiction. I know of people who work for “Misfits” have been sent letters.

Thought it was interesting what Robert Smith said on Groves pod about the misfits/YouTube stuff.Spud wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 12:32 The BBBofC have already sent letters to their licence holders.

To paraphrase, when the inevitable injuries happen the first door the media will be knocking on is the board despite it being nothing to do with them.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 14:01I’ve not heard that, what did he say?samwbr wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 13:45Thought it was interesting what Robert Smith said on Groves pod about the misfits/YouTube stuff.Spud wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 12:32 The BBBofC have already sent letters to their licence holders.

Why should they knock on the board's door? It's nothing to do with them. Seems to me the board are trying to jump on the misfits bandwagon. They are a self appointed governing body, why would misfits need them?samwbr wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 15:08To paraphrase, when the inevitable injuries happen the first door the media will be knocking on is the board despite it being nothing to do with them.

“We’ve activated the rematch clause [with Smith] subject to the contract,” Sauerland said. “Is it not signed? It’s not announced, let’s put it that way. That’s business on our side. If the contract’s not right, the contract’s not right.
“What I want is for Jr. to put things right to Smith and to fight Benn. How that works, time will tell, and it won’t be long. He wants to fight in June—currently [that’s] Smith. I can categorically say we have not had one formal proposal from Matchroom’s side yet. We have had a discussion, but we are aligned right now to fight Smith at this moment in time.”
“Chris is a fighter, so he concentrates on what’s actually on the table,” Sauerland added. “What’s on the table right now is Liam Smith. So that’s what he’s focused on.”

Because they are the official 'face' of British boxing. The press and TV have tried to get them involved with stuff that's happened in white collar shows before, they will do it again.Muttley wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 17:55Why should they knock on the board's door? The BBBofC can kiss my f*cking fat hairy ar*e.
Preventing licence holders from working on non BBBofC shows is absolutely disgusting, they can f*ck off.
The BBBofC should concentrate on finding a way of closing every door that’s opening for Conor Benn until he proves unequivocally his innocence.
Instead, Robert Smith in my opinion has chosen to pick on licence holders who are lucky to pick up £100 working behind the scenes on various boxing shows.
Hang your head in shame Robert Smith.

Just a snippet of the article that's most relevant to this post but the whole thing is worth a read. Looks at the Benn case, Hearn and PEDs plus PEDs from a wider perspective. Definitely worth a read.https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/ ... ish-boxing
Eddie Hearn, Conor Benn and the poison at the heart of British boxing
A source has told the Observer the report prepared by Benn’s legal team alleges that the Salt Lake City laboratory that recorded both positive results is guilty of fraudulent behaviour, including the deliberate manipulation of test results. The public statement from the WBC, in explaining why it was reinstating Benn to its rankings, dismissed this, concluding: “There was absolutely no fault attributable to the laboratory.”
Benn’s legal team also said its designated scientist was denied access to the testing of the B sample. But a source says Benn’s representatives wanted the scientist to travel from Europe to the United States. As the scientist was born in Belarus, he required a visa that was not the responsibility of lab officials to obtain. Benn’s team then sent a French scientist and, under Wada protocols, she was allowed to witness part of the testing procedure. She was also present when the results were returned.
The Observer understands that third parties who might share the 270-page report with the Salt Lake City lab, Ukad or the BBBoC have been threatened with lawsuits should they do so. Benn’s legal team declined to comment on that matter.

Finally, Hearn and Benn being held to account by a proper journalist rather than masquerading sycophants.
