David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
You know this is the potential match up everyone will be talking about soon.
Canelo still has to go through John Ryder in May, I'm guessing most people will be expecting him to win that.
Which then opens up the possibility for a David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez fight.
Off of Benavidez win last night and what you know of Canelo.
Who do you think wins a Benavidez v Canelo fight at this point?

Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
Benavidez I think would put a beat down on Canelo at this point in Alvarez' career and at the higher weight class where Canelo can't be a bully.
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
Could see Benavidez walking him down.
Can also see Canelo going for broke and having a proper kick off.
Who has enough one punch power to turn the fight when it matters ?
I could make a case for both
Lean toward Benavidez.

Canelo doesn't like to be pushed to fight at a faster rate than he is comfortable with. It would seriously test his gas tank.
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
It sounds intriguing now. Canelo lost to Bivol, underperformed against the aged Golovkin. Maybe he's declining. He can have problems with motivation, since he achieved so much. Also, he had so many tough fights and camps. Let's see how he looks against Ryder.

Benavidez holds a sizeable advantage in reach and height, hes 15 cm taller and has an 17 cm reach advantage hes also younger and less fights, meaning less tear on the body.
I just cant see canelo overcome this massive disadvantage. He fought a taller fighter in Callum Smith but smith isnt nearly as good as a benavidez and i would argue doesnt have the power of Benavidez either.
Either Benavidez will put him out with head combinations or canelo breaks him with bodyshots.
But to be honest i dont think well see that fight ever, Benavidez has been calling for that fight for years and i doubt that this will be the time when well see these two meet in the ring.

Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
He seemed to lose motivation after the Bivol loss, he really doesnt have anything to look foward too. Hes rich and the undisputed 168 champ, Bivol just outboxed him the size of bivol doesnt play as big of a role as some make it out to be. Remember when he wanted to fight Makabu and even Usyk ? what happened to these fights ? The Bivol loss made him realize that he isnt invincable, he ran trough everyone at 168, and his only loss was then 9 years back, he lost to the arguable goat and was only 23.
I have serious doubts that Benavidez Canelo gets ever made, Dazn dont want to lose their cash cow.

Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
I agree with the last two posts prior to my post.
I don't think that they'll set this bout up.
I think that Canelo will win versus Ryder, by 8th round tko. I think that it'll actually be a good scrap for 4 or 5 rounds.
Ryder will start gassing out late in the seventh round. The ref will wave it off early in the 8th round, Due to Ryder not punching back anymore. I notice that the refs are extra quick to stop bouts these days, especially when a boxer isn't punching back enough.
Or, they'll warn them, Show me something, and then they go for broke and get Ko'd, because of preferring to go out on they're shield instead of losing by a premature ref wave-off tko.
Standing 8 counts Need to be implemented, especially because of this lame aspect of modern days boxing bouts.
I think that Canelo will then either retire, or fight one more Low-B grade opponent in order to get that 60th carear win,
And then He'll just ride off into the sunset after that.
As for Benevidez, I Really want to see him move up to 175 and take on Bivol.
And then the winner of That bout Should take on Beterbeiv.
Canelo is 5'8. Benevidez is 6'1-1/2..?
Benevidez would be too big and strong for Canelo.
Pretty certain that Canelo himself realizes this.

I think Canelo might be shopworn. He doesn't have the athleticism of Plant, and his defense, while great, is mainly sitting in place with head movement. Benavidez, if anything, struggles more if you move, not sit in place. I'll go with the young, hungry guy here. It'll be a war, though, and they matchup like PBandJ.

What if Canelo just won't take the bout though..?Mexi-Box wrote: ↑29 Mar 2023, 11:44 I think Canelo might be shopworn. So thus, my main question, what if Benevidez goes to 175...?
And takes on Bivol..?
Who wins that..? I think Benevidez can definitely decision Bivol.
Then, Versus Beterbeiv, that'd be a Tremendously thrilling Boxing Battle.
I'd actually be thinking near 50-50 with that one.
Only a slight advantage to Artur.
A very winnable bout for David, but he'd Have to be patient and stick with a specific strategy and not
Get Lulled into slugging it out against the Beasty Artur, who basically hits twice as hard as Caleb Plant.
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
Benavidez is a big 168 LB'er. I stand by my post. 168 is hit or miss with Pednelo.

Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
Based on the last fight with GGG, I think Canelo is still in top shape. Atm Canelo would beat Benavidez. I'd like to see Bena fighting a few good names like Andrade, Charlo and Morrell, to get more top experience and then challenge Canelo.

Hard to seriously think about a fight I know is a year off.
IF it happens, stylewise it favors Benevidez as long as his chin holds up.

Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
What he have? 5 or 6 fights at 168?
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
Lackluster competition, though. Jacobs, Lara, and Golovkin are leagues better than anything he's seen at 168. I don't even think the version of BJS he fought at 168 was comparable to the version campaigning at 160.
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
I’m not a Canelo fan… I think he LOST both fights to GGG, the second more clearly than the first. That being said… at ANY WEIGHT from 154 to whatever… Canelo ANNIHILATES DB at whatever weight, however he wants. Think FMJ vs Diego Corrales… only Benavides is many level BELOW Corrales. Dana Rosenblatt beats Benavides FFS.
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
No one has came close to putting a dent at him at the weight. He hasn't struggled with one person there. He has a loss at 154, 175 and a draw at 160 with bunch of close fights at 154 and 160.
Re: David Benavidez v Canelo Alvarez ... Who Wins ?
Danny Jacobs and Austin Trout are not far from that level, and he wasn't dominant against neither.

Alvarez for me.
I think Benavidez would be tempted to go toe-to-toe with Canelo and that is a huge mistake.
It's no coincidence that his two defeats were against master boxers.
I don't think there is anyone at 168 today that could go to war with Canelo and come out the other side.

agree. its very hard to out-brawl a guy like Canelo. He has that mexican grit, iron chin and strong neck muscles, fast and strong combos and sneaky hard counters, a very good waist and head movement, huge experience and he is training very hard and smart.Syntax Error wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 15:41 Alvarez for me.

Could this fight happen before the end of the year ?
