A question for you all.

What % of top 50 ranked fighters do you think have been or are on the gear?

It’s gotta be 50+ eh?

He did well to read that. I bet he practised it a few times before attempting to read it on camera. :OhYes:

As for your question i'd say 80%+ of all top fighters are on the juice. There may be a few who aren't but they are very much in the minority.
Steroid usage in Boxing (and UFC) has become endemic and the reason authorities don't want to stop it is because if they did, they wouldn't have a sport left.

One difference with Khan is he’s accepted that he’s tested positive. He’s not denying it saying rigged test etc.

Jarrell Miller?

But why would you admit it? You want to box again, admitting it is the last thing you should ever do. Far easier to go down the usual route of contamination, supplement, spiked drink, wild boar, Mexican beef etc.

With respect mate, if the footballer is an adult then what you’re claiming is highly unlikely.

The criminal justice system of England and Wales operates an open justice principle meaning the following:

1. Proceedings must be held in public.
2. Evidence must be communicated publicly.
3. Fair, accurate and contemporaneous media reporting of proceedings should not be prevented by any action of the court unless strictly necessary.

This will only be overcome if there are exceptional circumstances to do so and any application for a press restriction would need to be made in the criminal court. No civil court is going to impose an injunction against the press in respect of criminal proceedings and override a long held and fundamental convention.

As a norm, defendants are not granted protection from press reporting.

If you’re right in what your saying why didn’t Ched Evans, Benjamin Mendy, Paul Gascoigne, Adam Johnson, Mason Greenwood et al all take such action when they were charged with sexual offences?.................

Apparently the amount found was tiny and wouldn't have given him an advantage

Nevertheless the rule is you are responsible for what is in your body and certain substances are strictly forbidden whereas some others depend on how much is in your system.

So like it or not Khan gets an automatic ban.

It seems it's only Benn this doesn't apply to. However he has only been cleared to fight by the WBC and Fast Car.

Maybe he will do a Fury, sit it out and wait for the backdated 2 year ban to expire.

Yeah steroid use can cause oily skin, cysts and acne. There were horror shows at my old gym. People just can’t stop themselves.

Looking back Khan did quite a big body recomposition with a new ‘strength and fitness’ trainer before getting minced by Prescott. Probably fairly suss.

British Boxing Board Chief Responds to Khan Drug Ban, Says UKAD Process Is ‘Too Slow’ But Necessary

Robert Smith, the head of the British Boxing Board of Control, expressed his frustration with the seemingly slow-moving process to resolve cases involving fighters with positive drug tests in the United Kingdom.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that United Kingdom Anti-Doping (UKAD) had levied a backdated two-year ban on retired boxer Amir Khan for failing a drug test that was administered after his showdown with his countryman and rival Kell Brook last year. Trace amounts of ostarine, an anabolic drug, were found in Khan’s body.

Khan has owned up to the results but insisted he never took the substance in question intentionally. Nevertheless, UKAD abides by a principle of strict liability, meaning ignorance is not a valid excuse, although in Khan’s case, it was enough to lower his ban from four years to two. (Khan is retired and has stated he does not plan to fight again anytime soon.)

Many in the sport knew nothing about Khan’s positive test, including the promoter of the Khan-Brook fight, Ben Shalom of Boxxer, and Brook himself. Moreover, many took issue with the amount of time it took for UKAD to render a judgement, saying that UKAD, and by extension the BBBofC, were “sitting on” the findings.

In a recent interview, BBBofC’s Smith disputed that characterization, saying that UKAD’s drug hearings protects the fighters and allows them a chance to explain themselves before a legitimate tribunal. As such, the process can take a long time, “too long,” Smith admits, even for himself, saying, “Nobody’s more frustrated than I am.”

Smith made it clear that the BBBofC were not involved in the inquiry into Khan’s positive test; that was all handled by UKAD. The BBBofC works closely in tandem with UKAD in an official capacity, so they defer to UKAD in drug testing matters.

“Because UKAD deal with all our anti-doping processes, we don’t have any dealings with regard to any hearing etc, it’s down to UKAD,” Smith told talkSPORT. “I’m frustrated with regards to how long it takes, but any athlete’s entitled to due process and that’s what they’ve done.

“UKAD deal with all our disciplinary matters with regards to anti-doping,” Smith continued. “They have a process in place for any other sport in the country, we have to abide by that. We’ve signed up to them, as have every other sport in the country.

“I’m as frustrated as anybody else, but that’s what we’ve signed up to. They have a process and that’s how the process works. I think it’s too slow, but that’s up to them. That’s how they deal with it and there’s not much I can do about it at the present time.”

Smith made it clear that he thinks there are some aspects of UKAD’s anti-doping procedures that can be improved.

“I think the issue we’ve got here is obviously UKAD have sole authority with regards to [anti-doping matters],” Smith said. “Whether I’m happy with it? Possibly not. And whether I’ve gotta do something about it? Possibly yes.”

The Board is currently involved in a matter that is very public: Conor Benn’s two positive drug tests from last year. The British welterweight has continually maintained his innocence and has lashed out at the Board repeatedly, even going so far as to threaten legal action. Benn currently cannot box in his native Britain because he voluntarily relinquished his license with the Board. It is understood that Benn has not cooperated with the Board in their investigation.

Nevertheless, Benn is expected to return to the ring in a territory outside of the Board’s sphere of influence on June 3 in Abu Dhabi. Manny Pacquiao, Chris Eubank Jr. and Brook have all been mentioned as possible opponents.

Shameless.
I think Eddie was always going to be all over this. More deflection.

It just shows though that the current process isn’t fit for purpose. If Khan had won the fight then it would have been 14 months of Brook being thinking he’d lost the biggest fight of his career. Now, and I’d imagine most people would agree, Khan should be stripped of a good chunk of his purse with some/all of it going to Brook. Of course there won’t be any guidelines as to what will happen.

We had Fury against Hammer where Fury tested positive post fight (I think). However the sample wasn’t actually tested/results revealed until after the Klitschko fight as UKAD had a backlog. Crazy!

We had the Dillian Whyte fight where he it was identified he had a positive UKAD test in fight week. They had a meeting about it and allowed the fight to happen without telling the opponent. It was then leaked to the press post fight and about 5 months later the charge against Whyte was dropped.

Benn fails 2 VADA tests and it takes the board 5 weeks to action anything. They then decide to fine Benn c.£100k with actions surrounding it despite no one actually making a ruling on the drugs tests. I still maintain the board should have cancelled the fight as soon as the first failure was reported.

Now the Khan fight where it’s 14 months post fight for the opponent/promoter to find out. Khan’s rightly got a ban. Where’s his fine for him actually being found guilty?

And we had Liam Cameron who got 4 years for a bit of coke and not having a good lawyer.

I don’t think Robert Smith is fit to run British Boxing at the moment and the procedures/rules etc. surrounding drug testing and punishments is essentially worthless.

The 3 tests before the fight was negative wasn't it?

It's a test that was done after the fight?

What can really be done at this stage?

He'd not even been given a fine, just a 2 year ban from ALL sports.. Which seems a bit useless..

Possibly UKAD have stepped up their testing regime a bit for boxing. You wonder if there’s a few fighters currently who have pulled out of fights for supposed injury reasons, but are actually waiting on drug bans.

ITV bosses 'reviewing' Amir Khan's stint on I'm a Celeb All Stars after sports ban

Boxer Amir Khan has bosses worried about his appearance on All Stars edition of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here which is set to air later in April after he failed doping tests

ITV bosses are reportedly reviewing Amir Khan's appearance on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

The star competed in the special edition All Stars instalment of the competition titled I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here: South Africa which is set to air later in April.

Amir, 36, last entered the jungle when he competed in the seventeenth instalment of the reality endurance competition back in 2017, under acrimonious circumstances.

The boxer lied to his fellow campmates after he and former talkRADIO presenter Iain Lee tucked into a plate of strawberries after winning a Dingo Dollar Challenge, instead of sharing them with campmates.

But following his controversial ban from sporting activities for two years after he failed doping tests, bosses are reportedly concerned about Amir's appearance over fears of awkward viewing.

An industry source told The Mirror: "This news will have led to discussions internally, it may mean he is featured slightly less prominently or a conversation around camp is now more relevant or revealing.

'But it really depends a lot on what happened in the jungle. The timing of news of this ban is not ideal for ITV."

It was previously revealed that Amir had been given a ban of two years from all sports after he tested positive for Ostarine.

He was charged with two anti-doping rule violations in July of 2022 following his grudge match defeat last year.

The substance is thought to have similar effects as testosterone and it could help with muscle growth, but the reality star maintained the ingestion was not intentional.

Reacting to the verdict, Amir said: "I’ve never cheated. Also, the amount that was in my system could have been by shaking people’s hands."

Amir is set to enter the special safari camp alongside a star studded list of names, which include Carol Voderman, Helen Flanagan, Paul Burrell and Janice Dickinson.

I’ve no idea how many tests he had before from UKAD or VADA. It shouldn’t really matter though.

Khan’s only punishment is damage to reputation. That’s big for him but if he’d won the fight then I’d be even more perplexed as to why it’s taken this long.

The amount of tests passed before the failure is totally irrelevant
