Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Yoka vs. Takam
I don’t think there’s a reason to drop him bellow wilder although I’m not too fussed if they’re 3:4 or 4/3…. He also has lost twice followed by a mediocre win (spectacular but mediocre).
I agree with voting people down on a bad performance but to me I use that more on controversial wins rather than underwhelming 10-2 victories…
Joyce is the next most deserving and fights in 2 weeks so I’ll wait for that, If Joyce stops zhang well then he could go to top 3…

Come on Mags, AJ has never been the same after that fight.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:39 right, i remember when you told us AJ was done after the first ruiz fight , gonna get bashed in the redo, then he hardly lost a round in the rematch and is still here.......people so overdramatic about aj all the time
He may have impressed in the rematch, but he has lost something for sure- confidence, mojo, commitment to aggression?
One or most of those things.

Ok Jam. I'll be sure to bet on him if he fights Fury; Usyk again; or Joyce. Assuming you absorb my losses.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:49 still a serious contender of course, since he was supposedly finished he beat ruiz easily, ko'd pulev, widely beat franklin, and only lost to an elite guy
now worse than beating helenius and being twice ko'd by fury.........no worse than being 11-1'd by josh, dropped on your ass by arreola, and edging old louis, etc. after furry and usyk, josh is right there with anyone

Careful Kiwi, Mags doesn't like to be disagreed with. You're risking bombardment by emoji.KiwiRider wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:50Come on Mags, AJ has never been the same after that fight.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:39 right, i remember when you told us AJ was done after the first ruiz fight , gonna get bashed in the redo, then he hardly lost a round in the rematch and is still here.......people so overdramatic about aj all the time

come on what? i never said he boxes the same, i said he wwasn't finished, which he clearly isnt. he easily beat ruiz in the rematch, easily ko'd pulev, widely beat franklin, and has only lost to an elite fighter since. that's not being finishedKiwiRider wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:50Come on Mags, AJ has never been the same after that fight.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:39 right, i remember when you told us AJ was done after the first ruiz fight , gonna get bashed in the redo, then he hardly lost a round in the rematch and is still here.......people so overdramatic about aj all the time

i dont disagree with kiwi actually, i never said aj is the same, just not finished, like you said. just not gonna be destroyed in the rematch. i picked that result correctly, josh clowned andyoogiebe wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:51Careful Kiwi, Mags doesn't like to be disagreed with. so one of these guys only has a single win, and it's not joshjoshj909 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 17:41 Using 3 years as the arbitrary cut off (because that's the date that I assume suits the narrative?):
1) Fury - Wins over Chisora, Whyte and Wilder.
2) Usyk - Wins over Joshua X2 and Chisora.
3) Joshua - Wins over Pulev and Franklin. Loss to Usyk x2.
4) Wilder - Win over Helenius and loss to Fury.
5) Joyce - Wins over Wallisch, Dubois, Takam, Hammer and Parker.
6) Ruiz - Wins over Arreola and Ortiz.
7) Parker - Wins over Fa, Chisora x2 and Massey. Loss to Joyce.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Yoka vs. Takam
I think everyone is a few rungs down from Usyk; Fury; and Joyce in the top 10. Each of them can beat the other through 7 or 8. Not too long ago, we had threads of AJ vs the all time greats. Where are those posters? Fighters being finished doesn't necessarily mean finished like Ali vs Holmes. Finished being a threat to the top guys. Maybe the second level guys too. I wouldn't be surprised if Ruiz would beat AJ in a third fight not being the blob that showed up for the rematch. Even Jam can't argue with that.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Yoka vs. Takam
i think joshua would outpoint ruiz again widely, andy's always been and still is a fatty, and getting slimmer wont suddenly change his trex arms,. josh boxing long and measured (as he did last night) will be the same 11-1 job.
sure some ppl went crazy over the top on aj, and some have been overdramatically negative about him. my gawd he's done! he'll get ko'd in the rematch and retire! dubois will walk through him early now!
since then he shut out ruiz, ko'd pulev, handily beat frank.......only lost to an elite fighter (who would beat everyone except maybe fury) and still had moments in the rematch. not bad at all, just cant agree to dropping him so low

We can go on repeating ourselves, but beating a 285 lb Ruiz; Past it Pulev; and never was Franklin doesn't give me warm and fuzzies. Neither does KO'ing Helenius for that matter. But you go on defending your boy. Joyce to 3; Wilder stays at 4; joshua to 5 or 6; Ruiz 5 or 6 pick 'em.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 18:00 i think joshua would outpoint ruiz again widely, andy's always been and still is a fatty, josh boxing long and measured (as he did last night) will be the same 11-1 job

Wilder can still punch which is why he stays at 4 based on our ratings. NEXT TOPIC!

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Yoka vs. Takam
ruiz lost weight to fight arreola, then got dumped on his butt and looked awful, that's not his magic trick. aj schooling andy in their rematch is easily enough , factoring in the other results since, to keep josh above him. aj's performance the other night was all the stuff he'd need to pull a wide decision again
as mentioned, it's wilder with only 1 win in the last three years, not aj..........since that was being held against him earlier
josh for me can still be as high as 3, no lower than 5. no one is arguing he's beat a murderer's row either, but it's not bad at all compared to the other guys. and not bad considering he was supposed to be finished and retired after ruiz ko'd him in the rematch

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Yoka vs. Takam
American promoters think Arreola is their version of Chisora but in reality he's more like Christian Hammer.
His "best" wins have come against Damien Wills, Malcolm Tann, Chazz Witherspoon, Jameel McCline, Brian Minto, Eric Molina, Seth Mitchell, Curtis Harper, Travis Kauffman and Jeanpierre Augustin. He has a draw against Fred Kassi and losses against Stiverne X2, Adamek and Kownacki. He is who they wanted to be what Ruiz turned out to be but they can't let it go.

Areola vs chisora would actually be fun though. Sadly we will see Sanchez 100-90 Areola around September…

I think Chisora wins that 9 times of of 10 whether he's 30 or 40.gregregegg wrote: ↑08 Apr 2023, 18:02 Areola vs chisora would actually be fun though. Sadly we will see Sanchez 100-90 Areola around September…
