Story mate. Do you ever watch these old fights not knowing what the result will be? Or having forgot the result?

Nah always know results Doc because I'm scrolling through their records beforehand, although occasionally I forget , I watched Jameel McCline vs Michael Grant the other week and for some reason I thought McCline won a 10 round decision and not a 1st round KOwatsupdoc87 wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 08:03Story mate. Jim Watt-Angy McMillan
I really liked the specific raw film quality of this filmed bout from 1973.
It gives off the uniquely realistic feeling of being almost practically in the ring amongst the contesting boxers.
Another bout that I watched a couple years ago, has an even higher level of Rawness.
And no commentator is heard either.
That bout was Koopmans-Blanchard.
"Rudi Koopmans" was a Heckuva Boxer.

Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
Leotis Martin V Sonny Liston.
Decent contest to start with.
Liston looked decent, whilst Martin looked like a clone of Ali, up on his toes and popping out the jab, followed by Right crosses.
He survived a knockdown in the 4th and continued the Ali impersonation.
Liston was giving a good account of himself with his vaunted ramrod jab on display up until his stamina just decided to get up and leave the building in the 9th, then Martin knocked the stuffing out of him with one punch, then levelled Sonny for the count.
Brilliant KO by Martin; nobody ever did that to Liston.
Joe Frazier was introduced before the start of the bout; I dread to think what Smokin'Joe would have done to Liston had he managed to beat Martin.
Poor Leotis Martin never got his shot due to an eye injury sustained in this fight.
Saying that, Frazier would have smoked him too; Joe was in his absolute pomp in '69.

Michael Nunn versus Graciano Roccigiani; I had it 116-112 Nunn; a real robbery.

Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
Looked this one up mate and had a wee watch, definitely my era.Scott Harrison vs Richie Wenton
Was a good reminder as to what a beast Harrison was at FW.....he's almost looked like a stocky welterweight
Some of the guys he faced must have thought to themselves...WTF, he's huge.
Wenton had lots of sweet skills but really Harrison was too strong, remorseless and a good shot picker into the bargain.
Harrison before the nonsense started really was a top quality fighter.

Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
Yeh Wenton was a bit tricky early on but once Harrison got into his groove he broke him down, it's a shame Harrison never lived the life, he was a beast at featherBodyshot3 wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 13:55Looked this one up mate and had a wee watch, definitely my era.Scott Harrison vs Richie Wenton
