at the time JJ had a relatively low profile and not really fighting any top level opponents whilst DDD was just smashing thru all comers so its not such a surprise he was the favourite .

Yes, I guess in hindsight it seems ridiculous, but the perception was very different back then, Joyce was still quite unproven.

3/1 on Joyce seems generous to me. I think if I were a betting man I’d back him quite heavily at those odds.

Joyce to win in rounds 7-12 is 9/1. I'm tempted by those odds. Is he being heavily overlooked here?

In my eyes a 7-12 stoppage for Joyce is the most likely thing to happen which is why I'm not betting on it, as it never happens the way I foresee it

Really I'd of liked to have seen Joyce against the likes of Whyte and Chisora (not now, but earlier in his career) to have properly gauged him. It's great and grand he's hyperactive, at least in comparison to the rest of the field, and finally facing name value opponents but I'd still argue that we're in such a weak era of heavyweights that he's basically European level but being ranked as world level.

I said before, clearly he's better than Dubois and Hrgovic so it's a shame he's not getting first crack at Usyk. I just think he'd lose to Fury and Usyk. His best shot would be Joshua and Wilder at this point.

Dubois was ahead on two judges’ cards before he was stopped with eye damage against Joyce.

I very much doubt any of it will happen.

I've lost virtually all interest in the heavyweight division and the sport of boxing itself. There's no point in discussing men and women who only fight once or twice a year and most of the time they fight bums instead of who they should be fighting.

By the time any of these fights are made all be passed their primes and it will never settle the question of who really was the best in their prime.
