‘BIG BANG’ Zhilei Zhang Really Is A Monster
Re: ‘BIG BANG’ Zhilei Zhang Really Is A Monster
Well, he's not that monstrous. Probably Joyce just underestimated him. Face-blocking finally went wrong. Joyce kept working more despite losing on points and suffering from the swollen eye.
Anyway, a huge credit for Zhang for pulling out an upset.

I’d like to see more of him. What’s his promotional status? Some fun fights in the U.K. for Zhang.

He'd give AJ a spanking. Those shots would KO AJ in 3.
Re: ‘BIG BANG’ Zhilei Zhang Really Is A Monster
Unless it was the Slo-Joe effect .. but when Zhang let them go he appeared to do so very quickly and dangerously.
If there is a rematch I think it will favour Zhang most. He appeared the one with more things which worked to improve on - Joyce did nothing new or particularly effective throughout.

Joe took a serious kicking there. Hope there is no lasting damage to that eye. It didn't look good
Re: ‘BIG BANG’ Zhilei Zhang Really Is A Monster
If they can get out of the Joyce rematch with him then it’s a perfect summer opponent for Fury as he’s now well known because he’s beaten Joyce and it would generate huge interest in the Chinese market which is pretty much untapped.
Could do an outdoor stadium in August.

I doubt Fury would fight Zhang. I don't think Fury wants to face anyone with a pulse, these days..

biggest pet peeve of the night - ring announcer saying 'zhang' in a way that didnt make it rhyme with bang
if his name really is pronounced like 'zhong' , then his nickname should be 'big dong' instead of 'big bang'

No chance he'd even consider Zhang .. Fury wouldn't even risk fighting Joyce after seeing that eitherbig lennox wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 04:01 I doubt Fury would fight Zhang. I don't think Fury wants to face anyone with a pulse, these days..
Fury's big advantages are his height and weight over most opponents; these are what wore Wilder down so effectively.
Fury would have minimal height advantage over Zhang, and as Zhang showed against Joyce, little if any weight advantage.
Zhang looked physically stronger than Joyce last night; and Joyce was 18.6st of muscle .. Fury is probably 16st of muscle with a 4st layer of blubber.
Zhang would boss the flabby stationary Fury we have now.

Since day one I have said Filip Hrgovic would have a big say in the heavyweight division.
I still do.
Last night puts into perspective the Hrgovic flat performance aginst Zhang.
Hrgovic can take a shot & when motivated he has some impressive shots.
Finally i have seen Hrgovic take some massive shots against Haye & comeback with his own (instead of the edited bullsh*)
So yes Zhang has put himself in contention, but, don’t dismiss Hrgovic.

Yes Zhang’s physical strength has an effect for sure. Joyce is usually able to walk opponents back in clinches and maul but Zhang shoved him around a lot.tonyevs wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 04:16No chance he'd even consider Zhang .. Remember after the Hrgovic loss people were talking about Alen ‘The Cabbage’ Babic going in with Zhang.
He’d swat Babic like a fly.

His surname should be pronounced Jang
With hindsight Zhang was all wrong for Joyce and I wouldn't go after the rematch.
JJJ has always had his limitations but overcame them by being able to steamroll his opponents.
Zhang is not to be steamrolled! He may well lose to fighters that run and box, he lost to Hrgivic because he was outboxed for long periods.
JJJ needs to look for opponents he can walk through while waiting for his shot. His shot will come sooner because of this loss.

Styles make fights. Joshua is way less open than joyce and has better fundamentals.

Tyson is a bigger man than Zhang, and is good at manhandling opponents.tonyevs wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 04:16No chance he'd even consider Zhang .. Hes definitely not a fat 16 stoner. Hes over 18 stone when hes in his best shape ever.
Beating Joyce requires a different strategy to Fury, tyson is constantly moving his hesd and shifting angles.
Id like to see the fight mind you.

Yeah, id watch that. Wilders speed and unusual punching angles make him a danger. I wonder hpw much punch resistance he has left at this stage though as hes taken a serious beating in his two losses to fury.gregregegg wrote: ↑16 Apr 2023, 07:13 Zhang vs wilder is my favourite semi meaningless fight in boxing right now.
