Vasyl Lomachenko vs Robert Guerrero at 135

Post by EdwardRevolver1993 »

Another interesting fight that came to mind. I think, most will agree Loma is an all around better boxer. But Guerrero was no slouch. Also, he was pretty big for a lightweight. Had arguably his best performance (against Katsidis) at this weight. And I can kinda see where he can succeed in this fight.

Guerrero could box some. Had a nice volume, combination punching and power - something that could trouble Loma, especially at 135. "Ghost" also could've potentially put Loma on the back foot - Loma isn't punching off the back foot all that often. And when pushed back - he often just shell, move back and waiting for his opponent's attack to finish.

I'm not sure, though, whether Guerrero be able to be consistent. He was also a bit stiff as far as moving his feet. Doesn't move his head much. Pron to swelling and cuts.

How do you see it going?

Loma dominates The Ghost and stops him late. these guys are a few levels apart.

loma decision, but i think guerrero would make him work for it, 135 not loma's best weight and could have some issues with bigger guys

That's about how I see it. Plus, as I've already mentioned in my preview, Guerrero wasn't exactly a slouch. I don't think it's just his physicality that could bring problems for Loma. He was a decent enough boxer too.

Loma is levels above many fighters, boxing-wise and talent-wise. But at 135, he hasn't really been running through his opponents the way he was able to do at 130. Guerrero was certainly no worse than Jamaine Ortiz. Wasn't as quick as Linares, but was more durable and tougher than Venezuelan in my estimation.

Also, Guerrero wasn't stopped against Mayweather and went thru Berto's shots at 147. And mentally, he isn't a type to fall apart like some of the other Loma's victims.

I do believe, it's a better fight than many would think.

Lomachenko would outbox Guerrero behind his southpaw jabs and combinations to take a decision.

I'd take Loma, but I admittedly vert much dislike Robert Guerrero so I probably am incapable of giving him a fair shake in mythical matchups.
