Post by El Raincoat »

What does everyone think of this guy ? I think he's very good has beaten some decent comp at higher weights ie stoppped Bradley pryce in his home town & recently beat Welterweight Ali Nuumenbee (Who'd Ko'd David Barnes).

Think you have the wrong opponent for Barnes, Nuumbembe drew with Barnes, although in my book he did he enough to win.

Olusegun looks good, time will tell when he takes the next step up.

When Olusegun beat Pryce i thought it was more of a case of Pryce being shot, but Bradley has gone on to be impressive in fights after that, so shows that Olusegun is certainly one to watch.

Maussa is fighting this week, it will be interesting to see how he bounces back after the Hatton loss.

I'm not sure if Olusugen could unify the titles, but I would favour him against whoever will be the WBC champion and if Maussa grabs a belt again.

An excellent southpaw, wouldn't say exceptional but feel at some point can certainly win a version of a world title.Would beat Maussa IMO. Sparred with him many times when an amateur and now as a pro. so i do see a lot of him.One things for sure he's always in terrific shape. The best fighter ive sparred so far,and he is a weight or so below me.that's saying something. :TU:

If he can learn to relax in there he can go much further. Then again I only saw his fight with Numbembe & he was taking it to a bigger man. Shameful that our top Brits won't fight these guys like Asiku (the best of the Africans to come over here), Munyai, etc.

Olesugen could figure in some great fights. It's just a question of who's prepared to face him after watching him totally demolish Nuumbembe.

It is a shame the very top Brits haven't mixed it up with the Africans you mention, but I'm going to stop and give huge credit for the guts Callaghan and McKeever showed to get in the ring and have go against Asiku.

seems Nedal Hussein decided against a rematch with Asiku after seeing those two fights. Would've been for Jackson's Commonwealth title and nedal does have a win over him, but seeing te improvement I think he didn't fancy it.

I'm not sure but hasn't Nedal retired or at least contimplating it. I read on fightnews that he was so gutted with his "no shows" vs Larios and Harrison that he's starting to realise he'll never win a world title.

But Foster cold fight Askiu but prefers the WBu route.

I think Olusegen could go far depends on how he is promoted.

I'd love to see Asiku face off with another import Choi Tseveenpurev, both fighters are good class, Asiku probably has better all round skills, but Tseveenpurev is tough with a great chin and excellent workrate.

A real pick-em fight that one.

Asiku would hammer Nicky Cook, Esham Pickering & Michael Hunter.

Nah, cannot see Choi living with Asiku. Not sure about the three VM mentioned (although I would favour Asiku over the natural Super Bantams).

Asiku is way sharper than those guys. Also, he has fought better men than the 3 brits - yes he did lose to Rakkietgym (in Thailand), Hussein and St Clair. Apparently this was in his journeyman days so there's a likelihood he had to take 'em on late notice. Also, I've heard more than one person write that he was robbed against St Clair. Won't know about the Husein fight until I see it in the next month or so. Hear it's a great battle.

St Clair, after a long layoff gave Corrales one heck of a fight. This was at feather & it was clear that Corrales was not only far taller, but far heavier on the night. Of course, St Clair is the guy Harrison pulled out against, and who just beat Baloyi in SA for the WBC super feather crown.

I think that tells us quite a bit about Asiku. Now he has good backing, holds a title & things will start coming together for him.

Nicky Cook hasn't done much wrong and demolished Dazzo Williams in similar fashion to Asiku's destructions of Callaghan and McKeever.

Both I think need to fight at a higher level before I can make a judgement on a prediction. Both look a class above Domestic level.

It's a shame Cook won't risk his WBC ranking by facing Asiku, because I think we'd learn a lot from that fight. The winner of that would certainly have more of a claim to being world class, because right now they've both looked good against domestic level opponents, but it's hard to say exactly how good they are.

I hope Asiku gets a push, he's really impressed me this year. Trouble is, the commonwealth belt can flatter to deceive, whilst not offering the same opportunities as the European belt.

Choi has improved alot in the last couple of years, since he lost a very close decision against Ledwaba, he's punching harder , and has a great chin.
Asiku would start favourite against Tseveenpurev, but he wouldn't get it all his own way, Tseveenpurev has a winners mentality and would certainly give Asiku a very serious test.
