So you think he was 100%? AJ was gunshy the night of the rematch and has been ever since. The rematch was probably the worst thing to happen to him as he started believing he was a master boxer because he was more mobile than Andy.
Deary me ,, step back take a deep breath , have a good look around , remember the days of Ali - Frazier - Foreman - norton - Shavers , ect ect ect ,

Take another deep breath , relax , and think , them days , and now , hater or lover of current boxers it don't matter , haters will hate , lovers will worship , my missis calls it looking through rose colored glasses , she says i do it with her , she says i still see her the same has when i met her a stunning looking woman , who has,nt changed , 3 kids 8 grandkids and 2 great grandkids and a few decades later ,
so if i do and take them off , have a good look around , then i got to admit , the hairs turned from blonde to grey , figure although still looking the same , is'nt quite the same , i then sort of have to be honest and admit weve both changed and were not quite that handsome couple that used to turn heads when we walked into a room .

I suggest most take there rose colored glasses off and have a look at the heavyweight scene , its quite dreadful at the moment

Fury ,, only fought two credible opponents , one was old and ready for retirement the other had never fought a decent opponent his whole carreer , he's since made excuse to not fight anyone who people think will remotly give him a go .

Aj -- Not much better , and got thrashed when he finally met a good boxer , although his resume was /is better than Furys .

Wilder --- spent a enormous amount of fights boxing easy beats who were hand picked because they would go stand in front of his gigantic right hand , soon has he met someone who would'nt stand still and be ko'd he lost . and lost badly

Ruiz , world of talent but is fat , lazy and unmotivated , and quite small in a land of giants ,

Zang Mmmm , big slow ponderous with a lack of stamina , being hailed on the fact he busted the eye up of another big slow stand in front be hit boxer .

JJ knocked of his place on the sandhill , discovered his only defence his head is'nt quite up to it when met with a guy who can punch ,

Usyk --- the only saving grace from a bunch of bad ones , comes up from cruiser , willing to fight anyone , anywhere , and skillfull enough to overcome the giants with speed and good technique , but will never go down and get his just rewards , because the giant with the other belt refuses to fight him ...

The very very best of a very very bad bunch , he will be manipulated out of his belts , they will be fractioned up after he retires and we will get on the same merry go round probably with a new bunch of bad heavyweights ,, more than likely Tommy Fury and that u tube fella duking it out for the WBC belt after Fury retires .

Really what a mess we have
Great post and I agree with a lot of your assessment. The most depressing thing is, I can't really see anyone of note coming up to take the place of this lot.
Don’t you think in 2 years time they’ll all be retired or relegated to gatekeepers? I’d imagine from a British standpoint we’d be left with Dubois, who may not be good enough to beat the best east Europeans.

Think thats excatly where it stands , 2 maybee 3 years all the british are excatly that gate keepers if there not retired ,, East Europeans leaving the ameteurs to come rule the roost throw in the Aussie Huni , if they can keep him out of dangerous waters for now , but keep him active and learning and IF his hands stand up to it , a lot of IFS but never the less if the IFS come good he'll be one to watch , Not really many on the british scene is there , i watched there commonwealth champ at the commonwealth games , lot said about him but personaly i was'nt that impressed , so can't see too much coming through .

Its the yanks fault , if they stop giving out basketball and tiddly wink scholarships to the big fellas over there we may get another golden age of class heavyweights ,  when in doubt Blame the Yanks and there world policys , its Trump and Bidens fault

margaret thatcher wrote: 16 Apr 2023, 20:27 right, hopefully fury fights ruiz and zhang instead of usyk, that would really be the way to show fury is superior to usyk
I said a better YEAR.

Ruiz and Zhang would be more meaningful than Dubois and Hrgovic. Nobody can argue against that. Everybody thinks Zhang was robbed against Hrgovic, and he's just beaten Joyce. It would be a better year than Usyk.

Furthermore, you said it yourself weeks ago, most people think Fury could beat Usyk anyways which is why people are pissed Fury let the fight evaporate with his prima dona attitude over the whole thing.
beating usyk would be far bigger than beating ruiz and zhang. and the best way to outdo usyk is to actually fight and beat him. that's the only way fury can actually defeat usyk. some ruiz + zhang victory by proxy stuff is just nonsense

usyk is the top man out there for fury to fight, the unified champ who is the route to the undisputed title. nothing else compares for meaningfulness.
They are not going to fight in 2023....

Usyk is stuck with Dubois and Hrgovic. There isn't going to be a Fury undisputed fight until at least 2024. So, if Fury did fight Ruiz and Zhang it would be bigger than Usyk fighting Dubois and Hrgovic.

That was my only point. 2023 would end up a bigger year for Fury than Usyk, if he fought Ruiz and Zhang.

if they dont fight each other that will be the main thing, ruiz + zhang vs hrg + dub will be marginal, the dudes gotta fight each other not have their fanbois try to one up each other by proxy

Does anyone really care who he boxes next, if its not Uysk.

In April last year Fury boxed Whyte, who had already been ko'd by uppercuts by Povetkin and Joshua.

Then " retirement".

Only to come out of retirement in time to film a Netflix series and box 40 year old Chisora with 13 defeats (including 2 to Fury)

Now it looks like he is going to box out of shape Ruiz who has already been beaten by Joshua, is going through a divorce, and looked disinterested last time out.

Presumably his paydays for all three of these fights are smaller than what he would have received for boxing Uysk on the 29th April.

Why didn't he box someone else on the 29th April? They had Wembley booked and he was in serious training camp, apparently.

Thank goodness for boxing that Uysk is the main man in the division, willing and ready to take on the best. The proper Heavyweight Champion.

Yes. Ruiz will sell out. Stopped AJ sounds better than lost to him. Everyone knows Ruiz shouldn't have been in a ring that night. Was like Buster Douglas in the Holyfield fight, and AJ was still frightened to death of him. As for the main man.... he has to beat the man first.

So the UFC has booked the O2 and announced they’re doing a U.K. show on July 22nd. Not ideal to compete with that at Wembley. Will need a good opponent.

Isn't it two different audiences? I would have thought BT wouldn't be happy, though.

That’s what the promoters try and tell us I think. There is certainly a fairly big crossover though. I have a group of friends that I watch the UFC and boxing with and if there choices were a Fury PPV for £25 or a good UFC show then I’d imagine most would choose the UFC unless Fury’s opponent is a good one.

Makes no sense for BT to have both on the same day and same time.

If the fight is vs. Ruiz I think it’s an acceptable one. Ruiz is ranked number two by the WBC, only Wilder is above him and I don’t think we need a 4th fight. Of course we all want Fury/Usyk but apart from AJ I think this one is against a top ranked opponent and former champion.

This one will also get marked as a mandatory as Wilder reportedly turned down the fight against Ruiz plus it has been 12 months since the last mandatory. That will be brought up when Usyk says he had to face Dubois.

Makes sense. Pulev last lost out with a split decision to Chisora. If he (Pulev) takes Fury close then that leaves a question mark as to whether Fury could pull it off against Chisora again?
