12 or 15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
Either Snipes would outwork Tillis with good body punching and nailing him with good right hands to take a decision or Quick would be too quick for Snipes by outboxing him behind his jabs and combinations on the outside to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?
Renaldo Snipes vs. James "Quick" Tillis
Re: Renaldo Snipes vs. James "Quick" Tillis
Snipes by close, majority decision. Both were at their best around the same time, but Snipes managed to beat a couple of contenders in that time period. Tillis managed to get a win over Earnie Shavers. I could see one dropping the other, but not realing finishing the other off. I think Snipes' style manages to confuse Tillis just enough for that decision win..

I would pick Snipes as well. Tillis just never could win the big one. (Shavers was almost shot by the time Tillis beat him).
Usually, Tillis was competitive though and would probably give Snipes a competitive fight.

Re: Renaldo Snipes vs. James "Quick" Tillis
This one is a very, very close call, assuming both guys fight their best at their respective peaks.
Tillis vs. Snipes, let's say anytime in 1981. That would have been a 50%/50% IMO.
I would not want to be on this one. But if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to pick, I'd lean towards Snipe. Because of his aggression, scrappiness, and overhand right. But I would not be the least bit confident about that pick.
Conceivably, Tillis would outbox and outjab Snipes from center ring. Could easily happen.
Very evenly match pair, these two.

Re: Renaldo Snipes vs. James "Quick" Tillis
I guess for me it comes down to this: snipes beat guys better than Tillis. Tillis never beat anyone as good (at least at the time of the fight) as Snipes. Tillis would have a chance, but Snipes would win more often than not.
