in 1958 it was reported that British boxer, Joe Armstrong, was brought in along with Bert Whitehurst as sparring partners for ingemar johansson before his fight with Eddie machen
I can't find any trace, tried john and jack, but nothing?

Any ideas?

who was the sparring partner from England mention in Ingemar Johansson's 1960 autiobiography,
that tried to knock Johansson out in some training sessions because supposedly he was bitter at
not getting a title shot ?
was it Jack Gardner ?
