He's definitely continued with his omelette regime over there by the looks of it...

It would be interesting to know if he’s actually been tested at all since October 2022. America is the heartland of PEDs really with all their testosterone clinics and tame doctors.mickey1975 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 05:45Why not? Whoever licenses him obviously isn’t bothered.

Benn training in the US. I'm sure he will pick up a fight or 2 over there.

There will be - and if not there the Middle East….
… but it does seem as if the net is closing around Connor a bit.
There is a little less bluster and Eddie is quieter, whilst stronger noises are coming from the various authorities.

But who the hell in the US would want to watch him? Complete unknown out there.
Good point, not sure there will be a lot that remember his dad, and again Nigel only had one great win over an American. Not as if Nig was an all time great.
Conor isn't even British standard yet he believes the hype around him. Shame Prince Patel isn't larger in weight. 2 dreamers would make a good fight.

I’d imagine he’s more or less grinding to a halt with the Board threats to take licences off his team. He’ll probably have to face the music!Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 05:31But who the hell in the US would want to watch him? Complete unknown out there.

I think Barkley and McClelland def counts as 2!
Furthermore Benn had a lot more fame and publicity than Eubank in the States, Doug De Witt was quite high profile too

Letter from the editor at Boxing News, pushing back against Hearn's mudslinging, and highlighting the distance this debacle still has to travel before its resolved; https://www.boxingnewsonline.net/editor ... kad-story/
...presumably this would normally sit behind a paywall, so Matt Christie must be royally pissed off!

Any Brit is a hard sell in the US these days outside of Fury who took a while to get going, as seen with the Schwarz and Wallin gates. I’d argue Taylor maybe is a little well known due to being with Top Rank, the fights with Ramirez and Prograis etc but Benn can forget it. I was in New York for Joshua v Ruiz and most of the locals didn’t even know there was a fight on.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
It’s kind of a game of matchmaking. Benn is good enough to beat faded names, but as soon as he goes in with a genuine world level fighter he’ll get stopped. It’s just a cash-out manipulation really for the promoter.ashall2 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 05:05 Any Brit is a hard sell in the US these days outside of Fury who took a while to get going, as seen with the Schwarz and Wallin gates. Fury did good gates against Schwarz and Wallin.ashall2 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 05:05 Any Brit is a hard sell in the US these days outside of Fury who took a while to get going, as seen with the Schwarz and Wallin gates. The plan was to maximise the revenue. There wasn’t many people there, that’s probably mostly down to the tickets being really high.
The live gate was still respectable.

Disagree, the de Witt and Barkley wins were good and made noise.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑27 Apr 2023, 05:31But who the hell in the US would want to watch him? Complete unknown out there.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
I don’t think many Americans would care that he’s Benn’s son. It was so long ago and Benn Sr, whilst he did have a couple of solid wins was hardly a big name stateside. Doug DeWitt was not exactly a name even in his win country.
The Americans don’t seem to get as excited about the ‘son of’ angle anyway….. loads of sons of greats have fought and not got any special treatment like Eubank and Benn’s sons…. Benn and Eubank are exceptions in many ways even on the UK because of the huge impact and story their dads were in the 1990s. 18 million people watched Benn Eubank 1. It was a phenomenon. Compare that to the lack of noise made by Steve Collins’s son (admittedly very average.) or even Campbell Hatton who got a huge fanfare but it has fizzled out cos he’s so poor.
In America Conor will probably sell 10 tickets on the back of his surname, and those 10 will be purchased by expats…..

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Opened up this Thursday just gones issue of boxingnews and first thing you see is an article on this bullsh**t still
Don't care about benn personally, never thought much of him in the beginning and don't really care if he ever has a fight again
So boring when this is still a major talking point in boxing

Yeah, that's why names like Kennedy and Bush just fade into obscurityJamesPhilips wrote: ↑30 Apr 2023, 12:25
