Brandon Cook vs Gino Godoy

Post by handsofstone »

Action is pretty sparse this weekend but as well as the Zepeda/Arboleda card DAZN are also showing this show from Canada tonight at midnight, Cook fought Munguia for the world super welter title a few years back and was swept aside in 3 rounds, he does have a KO win over Steven Butler who fights Alimkhanuly for the middleweight title next week, both of Godoy's losses were 4 round decisions early in his career

Better than fck all I suppose

Think ill give it a miss. Im already 6 hours ahead of gmt so has to be something good to keep me up for a US fight. Brittish fights i can squeeze in with afew cans no problem but none on this week from the looks of it :bag:

Cook wins a 10 round split, two judges had him ahead 95-94 and the other hand Godoy a 96-93 winner , I had Godoy winning 95-94, he landed nearly all the effective punches but he was passive and lacked urgency at times, Cook was agressive and was always looking to get his head on Godoy's chest, he was scrappy though and didn't land much clean, he was just able to nick rounds due to his aggression and Godoy's inability to take the fight by the scruff of the neck

Godoy dropped Cook in the 4th with a cuffing left hook, not a lot on it but Cook went down, Godoy then hurt Cook to body at least 3 times in the 6th, Cook was doubled over but somehow managed to stay on his feet, again Godoy never pressed the initiative and allowed Cook to steal rounds by simply coming forward and working up close without landing much clean, whenever Godoy cut loose he had an effect on Cook, I had Godoy winning but he only has himself to blame here, especially being the away fighter
