Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti III Exhibition Set For June 11 in Florida

Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather has scheduled his next exhibition fight - and the Hall of Famer is set to collide with John Gotti III, grandson of organized crime icon John Gotti.

The event will be called "Last Name Matter" - and takes place on Sunday, June 11 in Sunrise, Florida & Accompanied by Performances from Ozuna, Romeo Santos

An official press conference is taking place on Thursday in Florida, where Mayweather and Gotti will go face to face.

Mayweather is dedicated the event to the memory of Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico, his longtime assistant who passed away suddenly in April.

Gotti, 30-year-old, became a pro MMA fighter after spending several years in the amateurs. After going pro in 2017, he built a record of 5-1

He turned to boxing last October, going pro with a four round unanimous decision win. Gotti came back to the ring this past January with a first round knockout.

Mayweather, 46-years-old, retired from the sport in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, after knocking out UFC star Conor McGregor in a cross-sport showdown.

Since retiring, Mayweather has taken part in several exhibition bouts - with the biggest being his 2021 encounter with social media star Logan Paul.

Mayweather took part in three exhibitions in 2022, including a bout with KSI's younger brother Deji. Mayweather made his UK debut in an exhibition with kickboxer Aaron Chalmers.

Well I know for a fact if John Gotti was still alive this kind of event would not be taking place. I still remember watching videos of him in prison talking to his daughter and her sons and he told the one kid to straighten up and be a lawyer instead of pursuing sports.

I would think surely by now they're paying Floyd more to do these things than they can possibly be making back on 'em right?

Either Floyd Mayweather is settling for less money or they are breaking even with these kind of events against non entities. I don't know how you could be making a profit from such opposition.

Press Release

The undercard is now set for the next exhibition fight return of Floyd Mayweather, who enters the ring on Sunday, June 11, in a clash against John Gotti III, the grandson of organized crime icon John Gotti.

The event will be available through Zeus Network Pay-Per-View and streams live from FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

In the co-featured, eight-round exhibition, Ulysess "The Monster" Diaz will rematch UK-based fighting star Khalas “BabaYaga” Karim in the sequel to their bout from February on another Mayweather topped Zeus Pay-Per-View undercard.

In another four-round exhibition, world-class heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller will take on Vegas-based undefeated heavyweight Antonio Zepeda.

The undefeated Miller, 34-years-old, currently holds a professional record of 26-0-1, with 22 KOs and was last seen knocking out former champion Lucas Browne in six rounds in March of this year. Miller is still trying to rebuild his career after several mishaps with failed drug tests.

The 28-year-old Zepeda is currently 6-0, 6 KOs as a boxer and a 2-0, 2 KOs in MMA.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 270-pounds, Zepeda was a Phoenix Camelback High School All-Arizona football defensive end. He began his boxing training less than a year after his dreams of an NFL career ended at UNLV in 2017, when he suffered a broken tibia, torn MCL and meniscus.

Also scheduled for action is a four-round bareknuckle boxing match between MMA star Hector Lombard and Eric Turner.

In another four-round exhibition bout, J'Hon Ingram will battle Ryan “Stone” Allen.

And to open the action, Kamari “KB3” Burnside will fight three exhibition rounds against Brendan Jackson.

'Big Baby' Miller's opponent Zepeda is a big guy but his 6 career opponents have a total of 10 wins between them.

I don’t really get this and am tending to agree with others posters that Mayweather may have financial issues.

I'd love to see a sudden necessary replacement situation with this bout.

Would be Very interesting to see a few candidates offer to take Gotti's spot.

Kelly Pavlik, Sergio Martinez, or Some other random(Ideally a former top 5 MW contender, who's been retired for a few years, but still keeps in shape).

I don't expect much out of any of this but I do hope the Italian kid gives a good account of himself. :TU:

Apparently it went six rounds. Pretty uncompetitive. As to be expected. But Gotti tied Mayweather up, said something to Mayweather, and the referee waived the contest off. Gotti got infuriated, and jumped all over Mayweather hitting him against the ropes. Mayweather's entourage hit the ring attacking Gotti, then Gotti's people jumped into the ring. Gotti raised his hand in the air after the skirmish died down.

Yeh, so they kept trash talking each round.

Ref had enough. Warned them. Start of the 6th, gave them a final warning.

But they didn’t listen.

Waived it off and then it began.
