He had a wlad chin, better offense. That would have been a toss up.pound per pound wrote: ↑05 Jan 2020, 20:14
I dunno about that, he beat Foreman, and Ruddock. He was a massive puncher with fast hands ( people forget about that part ). Drugs and focus outside the ring and a weak chin were his biggest problems.

I think that may be a fallicy that Tommy Morrison had a weak chin.
It was mainly stamina problems after the first four rounds or so. and he had a tendecy to gas out

Re: Tommy"The Duke" Morrison (filmed/televised fights -1988-2008)
I'd say, he had both those problems, but he could deal with stamina, if he prepared seriously. His dedication was the main problem. Foreman fight was a good example, when he was well-prepared and able to box for 12 rounds. While Mercer loss happened, because he had gased out, as he had just tried to KO Mercer quickly and punched himself out. Bentt loss was because of his chin. In Williams bout he nearly lost because of his chin, but he was able to bounce back, he was well-prepared for this fight.Caractacus wrote: ↑06 Jan 2020, 14:40 I think that may be a fallicy that Tommy Morrison had a weak chin.

Re: Tommy Morrison Documentary (1990)
December 1989
June 1990 (Morrison breaks his hand)
October 1990
November.8.1990
November 16) in 1990.(30 yrs ago)
ROCKY V was released to Movie theaters Nationwide.
( it had its world premiere a few days earlier Nov.13 in West Hollywood CA.)
as a result at this point Morrison then becomes a "Hollywood Celebrity"
and his "Bimbo Magnet" status increases 100x as a result.
Where were you when the movie came out 28 years ago and where did you see it ?
( I was 30 yrs old then and saw it at a mall theater in Pensacola Florida)
also,it is interesting to note that from January to December 1989-Tommy Morrison had 19 pro fights !
He was involved in the filming for about 6 months (with a month off break) finished filming around March 1990.
But had only 3 fights in 1990 ( first one in June(broke his hand in that fight against Woolard)
and the last 2 bouts were in Oct and Nov. 1990).

He had stamina problems probably because he was roided up.
Ray Mercer trainer noticed that in their weigh in (chest and back acne), so they went for some strategy.

This fight (January 1991) against a named opponent was when Rocky V was still playing at some theaters in some parts of the country.
It may actually been a detrimental win for Morrison as Tillis later claimed he threw the fight
and allowed Morrison to punch him,
to get back at his managers who he claimed were stealing from him.
a month later he fought a former World HW Champion and as a result perhaps being led into a false sense of secruity (?)
