Good fight. Page on points-he's the better boxer, imo.

Assuming both guys fight their best, I'll pick Tate on points.

I know my choice probably surprises you guys, given Tate's notorious durability problems. But my reasons for picking Big John are twofold.

First, during his prime and fighting up to full potential, Tate kept his guard high and tended to force his opponents onto the defensive, where they couldn't cocky swinging for his chin.

Second, Page - even at his peak - had trouble stylistically with big, strong guys who exhibited effective aggression. In those fights, for some reason, Page kept pulling away, as if confused. Could be that Greg just didn't know how to fight off of his back foot.

At his best, Tate was quick, fluid, put his punches together beautifully, and could hit with a fair degree of power. At 6'4" and 235 lbs, all lean, he had physical size working in his favor. So I get the impression Tate would have kept Page on the run.
