Canelo had a poor 2nd half for his standards. Good Job from Ryder did better than i expected.

Really good from Ryder.
Looked just as strong as Canelo, won rounds fighting with a broken nose (probably?) and covered in blood. :salut:

Only lost by 2-3 rounds and a KD if the judges are fair.

Ryder's best performance..? Or is Canelo slipping...?

That's why I think we are seeing past prime Canelo. Ryder would have been a fairly easy night a few years ago.

good stuff from john. some of his losses look weird now ......arnfield, ko'd by blackwell, etc

could give him a couple rounds here, but obviously canelo a wide winner. though once again he seemed to fade later on

Canelo caught watching his work a bit on that knock down, ryder was fairly slow to the ground, canelo could of added a 3rd punch to the combo and ended it there and then..

Ryder could of won 0 rounds, but he could of won 3 or 4 rounds too... bet he wishes his nose didnt explode so early.

How quickly they fade... 2021 I'm sure Canelo would've gotten the knockout.

To be fair Canelo went points with Callum Smith in 2020 and Smith and Ryder had a very close fight.

Canelo should stick to 168: Benevidez, Charlo, andrade, Berlanga, Mungguia... plenty of fun fights to make if he and they can keep winning.

If he wants to fight bivol again then i think it should be at 168 too. dont wanna see him go up again with a built in excuse even though the guy has offered to come to "his weight"...

uncle vodka sergey has an underrated performance vs canelo. past his best, nearly 40 year old alcholic, shortly after the tough fight vs yarde, and many people had him ahead of canelo or at least even when he was stopped in the 11th

118 - 108 Canelo. I thought Ryder was done after the first KD, but he came back with heart and showed something other than being hard. Masterful performance by Alvarez, but he seemed more cautios and static than before (could it be due to the unfavourable weight jumps).

Hope he faces ASAP either Benavidez or Morrell, he has no business into challenging again Bivol.

Just watched the fight. Got up at 3am to watch live but Virgin down until daybreak.

Two plodders, Canelo didnt put many combos together and Ryder lost widely but not a huge gulf on the night.

Feels like Canelo's best days are behind him so a rematch with Bivol would be a big gamble

Had it 117-111, gave Ryder the last 3 but a clear comfortable win for Canelo, not his best performance, looked a bit flat and one paced , lacked urgency and the killer instinct but you could see and hear the difference in quality of punches when they both landed, Ryder's were just bouncing off Alvarez whereas Canelo was banging to the body, dropped Ryder with a textbook 1/2 in the 5th, Ryder just collapsed and he looked done but some set of stones on him, that bloody nose must've been a nightmare to deal will, it bled constantly from the 3rd round

Ryder drilled Canelo with uppercuts all night on the inside, his best punch but Canelo controlled him, Ryder's legs looked gone a few times but he's a hard bastard and Canelo never really looked like Knocking him out

Not vintage Martinez but came good in the end, looked a bit confused about how he wanted to box, switching stances constantly and going to the ropes, Batista showed some nice moves and didn't look overawed in there, got a point off in the 4th for hitting after the bell then got put down in the 7th by a sweeping left hook, ref bizarrely missed it but it was scored at end of the round, strange but the right call, Batista faded as Martinez got stronger, hurt Batista to the body at the end of the 10th and then stopped him in the 11th with a barrage against the ropes
