I think it’s more that Canelo has past his peak.

Well done to Ryder. Was a win going the distance.

Even he said Canelo is past his best.

I read a lot of comments that the towel should have come in.

It's funny how often it can take pro commentators to spot an obviously broken nose as opposed to a busted one (had the horizontal break on the bridge from a hook myself, nose knocked sideways pretty much, the blood stream was unstoppable) Riders nose was flattened out of shape and was pissing a constant stream of blood, obviously broken

"That's a lot of blood on the nose"

"His nose is really bad"

"That is a constant stream of blood out of his nose"

Round 5

"It wouldn't surprise me if that nose is broken" ya think???

Ryder was fighting the whole right with blood pissing out his nose and going down his throat

Ryder can be very proud of his performance :salut:

John gave Canelo a few things to think about, but Álvarez was almost in cruise control for large parts of the fight.

John can stick the finger up to those that derided his challenge beforehand 🖕

Canelos head movement didnt look as sharp as usual.

He'd need to punch with Bivol to have any chance, for sure there is no sign that his output can increase. Definitley slipping.

Canelo wins 10 to 11 rounds, scores a knockdown and that means he is a failure, ryder is much better than anyone thought, and canelo is now old.

Canelo was looking good first half of the fight. Second up wasn't really throwing combinations. Think Ryder just adapted to the punishment.

Canelo probably coasted because ryder is tough enough to see the final bell and there was no way ryder was going to come close to winning.

100% disagree with that. This was Canelo's long awaited homecoming fight, on Mexico's biggest day, in front of an enormous crowd who were baying for a KO. It ment a tremendous amount to him, and it was a massive occasion.

His stamina and punch resistance has improved remarkably as he's gotten older.

Ryder is a quality fighter. He was never going to get walked over.

Alvarez would never have beaten Bivol.

Eddie Hearn has issued a foul mouthed response to reports of relatively low pay per view numbers for Canelo Alvarez’ win over John Ryder earlier this month.

Numbers of 150,000 – 200,000 spread on twitter in the wake of the fight, which was Canelo’s first in Mexico in well over a decade.

When these figures were put to Hearn by Boxing Social, he labelled them “bull****” and referenced that there were customers across the world able to purchase the event on other platforms, not just DAZN.

“Absolute b****cks! More like double that. These are the times when I wish DAZN would just come out and say the numbers, because those numbers are bull****.

The fight was on DAZN, but also on various other pay per view platforms as well. Direct TV and many other platforms.

So miles out on the numbers.”

Ouch. Terrible numbers whatever.

I love the argument that there are hundreds of thousands of boxing fans buying the Canelo fight who dont have Dazn.

What was the source of the 150-200k buys? The only one I saw was a complete random.

So likely not accurate. Just like Eddie saying Tank/Hector Garcia only doing 60k buys.
