wilder's power gives him built in excitement. but his style itself isnt that entertaining tbh and he's not one of these all action guys. he often does very little for many rounds until landing a big shot. a lot of pawing and staring and standing off, an occasional right hand. some of his fights he has comparable output to a negative wlad, but almost always the explosion comes so you can count on him for highlights

i dont rate benavidez nearly as high on this as a lot of other people do, he has so many meh fights against mediocre opposition, and when he's fought better opponents he often doesnt really heat up for several rounds. what's the best fight he's been in?
not in the same league as guys like inoue or bert for me. ggg also is generally a good watch, he stunk it the last time vs canelo but the murata fight right before that was very nice and he's someone who generally is good from start to finish, agressive with power and skill, hittable
i like bill zepada too, man has an absolutely monster workrate, thrown with his body into the shots. he averaged like 130 punches per round over 12 rounds vs diaz, awe inducing stuff. one of these guys who simply comes to throw some hands. jcm used to be like this, but has regressed signifnicantly and no longer has the same energy to his work
of course there are loads and loads of fun guys at lower levels too, look at stevie spark and gollaz as a recent example

To me, that's what make him so exciting. It's almost Hollywood-like. It comes right out of nowhere and BOOM, it's over.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑07 May 2023, 16:30 wilder's power gives him built in excitement. but his style itself isnt that entertaining tbh and he's not one of these all action guys. he often does very little for many rounds until landing a big shot. a lot of pawing and staring and standing off, an occasional right hand. some of his fights he has comparable output to a negative wlad, but almost always the explosion comes so you can count on him for highlights

Beterbiev should start calling out everyone around him.
He seems so low profile a lot of the time.

I think you have to have a personality to be exciting, especially if you go most exciting. Canelo draws huge numbers, but none of his build ups are ever good. Benavidez/Plant and Rolly/Tank build ups were pretty amazing. Would've been an HBO 24/7 wet dream.

He absolutely must or he risks ending up as one of those boxers that was too good for his own good.
The great thing about Beterbiev so far is that he hasn't had to trouble the judges even once.
But you're really no one in this game if you don't win over hearts and minds. It's all there for him, the networks, the YouTube channels, the boxing press etc.
Perhaps he ought to emulate a certain Tyson Fury, and shamelessly enter the ring dressed as Uncle Sam waving the Stars and the Stripes the next time he fights in the US?

I like how he can be easily outboxed for consecutive rounds by a guy like Gerald Washington who is basically a puffed up football player, and you think, Wilder is sh*t, then boom, and he is the sh*tRedback Rasta wrote: ↑07 May 2023, 19:25To me, that's what make him so exciting. Absolutely. Wilder has stopped every man he has faced except for Stiverne and Fury and some have argued it was only a long count that stopped Fury being added to the list.KiwiRider wrote: ↑08 May 2023, 18:46I like how he can be easily outboxed for consecutive rounds by a guy like Gerald Washington who is basically a puffed up football player, and you think, Wilder is sh*t, then boom, and he is the sh*t :lol:Redback Rasta wrote: ↑07 May 2023, 19:25To me, that's what make him so exciting. It's every man he's fights apart from Fury.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑08 May 2023, 22:45Absolutely. He did stop Stiverne. I guess people forget the rematch.

Rolando Romero; shit talker, entertainer and knockout artist.
Frank Martin; hard hitting southpaw with clean technique and knockout power
Gervonta Davis; All of his recent fights have been devastating knockouts, exept for the Isaac Cruz fight in which he injured himself but both Pitbull Cruz and him had an exciting fight.
Isaac Cruz; pressure power puncher with a rudimentary style but a working one none the less.
David Benavidez; combinational powerpuncher with a great gastank and vicious combinations.
Teofimo Lopez; Theres always Drama and shittalk when hes fighting. Big powerpuncher, clean technique.
Artur Beterbiev; Always in firefights and 100% ko ratio speaks for itself. Not a big output per round but when he lands, he lands with intent.
Vergil Ortiz Jr; young fighter with a 100% ko ratio, has been in fire fights against Kavaliauskas and Hooker. Clean technique and hard punches
Jaron Ennis; Stancewitching powerhouse, with clean technique. Also was on a 20 fight knockout streak before ud-ing his last opponent.
Eimantas Stanionis; pressure powerpuncher, mostly in firefights like against Butaev and Dulorme

It's the tension that permeates when watching Wilder.
It's bad enough watching him, so goodness only knows what it's like for his opponents.
You sit there just waiting for him to land his Right hand flush, to see what will happen.
