On Thursday, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Real Fight Inc. (Real Fight) announced that a deal was finalized for the rematch between undisputed featherweight world champion Amanda “Real Deal” Serrano (44-2-1) and former WBO featherweight titleholder Heather “The Heat” Hardy (24-2, 4 KOs).

After earning the WBO featherweight from Hardy nearly four years ago, Serrano will put all her belts on the line and defend her undisputed title for the first time vs. Hardy in a co-main event alongside Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on August 5th.

The event is being distributed globally on pay-per-view by DAZN, in addition to all major cable, satellite and local PPV providers.

Serrano, the first Puerto Rican undisputed world champion, started her current title reign at featherweight by defeating Hardy by way of ten round decision in 2019 to win the WBO belt. Hardy, also a Brooklyn native, will attempt to avenge her loss. Hardy saw action back in February, when she defeated Brazil’s Taynna Cardoso.

"I'm beyond grateful for this opportunity,” said Hardy. “In 2021, I came back to boxing with a renewed passion for the sport. My late trainer told me, the day before he died, that 2023 would be my year. Now, I have the opportunity to prove him right and become an undisputed champion. Thank you to Amanda and team for keeping their word on giving me the rematch, but come fight night, I only have winning on my mind and stealing the show from Jake Paul and Nate Diaz.”

Serrano steps back into the ring after winning a blood-soaked war against WBA featherweight champion Erika Cruz in February, making her the undisputed featherweight champion but also left her with a hand injury that resulted in canceling her much anticipated rematch with Katie Taylor.

Serrano’s decisive win against Cruz followed her previous win over Sarah Mahfoud in Manchester, England that added the Dane’s IBF title to her WBO, WBC, and IBO featherweight belts.

"I am the undisputed featherweight champion today because Heather Hardy agreed to fight me in 2019 for her WBO title,” said Serrano. “That was the first step in my current run at featherweight. It’s only right that I give her the opportunity to earn it back. I’m excited to once again share the card with Jake and put on an exciting war. This will be the first time I get to fight in Texas, and I promise the fans that they will not be disappointed."

Shane Mosley to coach Jake Paul ahead of Nate Diaz bout

Jake Paul has shaken up his coaching staff following his first career loss.

The YouTube-star-turned-prizefighter told ESPN on Tuesday that he is now working with trainers Theo Chambers and legendary retired boxer "Sugar" Shane Mosley, along with his longtime coach J'Leon Love, a current boxer.

Chambers, Paul said, is now his head coach. Paul's previous coach BJ Flores will remain on the team as an advisory consultant, Paul's business partner Nakisa Bidardian told ESPN.

Paul, 26, is coming off a loss to Tommy Fury via split decision Feb. 26. Paul will face former UFC star Nate Diaz in a boxing match Aug. 5 in Dallas.

"I wanted to reconsider everyone on the team," Paul told ESPN on Tuesday after the Paul vs. Diaz on-sale news conference at American Airlines Center. "Made some changes, went back to the drawing board. And basically, there were certain mistakes I was making that Shane and my head coach Theo Chambers identified and we're on the same page about [them]."

Mosley was one of Paul's first coaches, before Paul became one of the hottest names in boxing. Three years ago, Mosley didn't have the time to devote to being a fulltime coach. But now he is able to take on that role and will be with Paul for his training camp in Puerto Rico.

"I think when he got in the ring with Tommy Fury, his mental wasn't there, his health wasn't 100% and there were a lot of things that were wrong," Mosley said. "And there's a couple little, minor technical things he should work on and could work on. But I think the main problem was [mental], how he approached the fight."

Paul is 6-1 as a pro boxer, having made his debut in 2020. He owns wins over former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley (two). Fury was by far the most experienced boxer he had ever fought. Paul said he's determined to patch up his game and continue on this boxing journey.

"A lot of people probably, at my level, would've just lost and went away or came back and fought someone easy or hid away for a while," Paul said. "I'm doubling down. This is what I'm meant to be doing and I'm destined to do in life. And so, they see now, I think, that I'm dedicated even after a loss. I'm not just doing it for the money, I'm not just doing it to win. I'm not just doing it to knock people out. This is what I truly love and I'm passionate about."

DIAZ STILL FACING BATTERY CHARGE

Diaz deflected questions about his ongoing criminal case in New Orleans, but made some changes following the incident. Diaz is being charged with felony second-degree battery after choking unconscious a man named Rodney Petersen following a boxing event last month.

Petersen is a 6-foot-4 social media influencer with a 1-0 pro boxing record and experience in amateur MMA and Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitions. His online persona is that of a lookalike of Logan Paul, Jake's very famous YouTuber and WWE star brother.

"Logan pulled up on me out of nowhere and he shouldn't have," Diaz said. "So, that's all."

When told it wasn't actually Logan Paul, Diaz quipped: "That was Logan, bro. They were trying to play it like it wasn't."

Diaz has hired a significant security detail for all travel outside of his hometown of Stockton, California, per his representative Zach Rosenfield. The four large men were present Tuesday in Dallas for the press conference.

Diaz's first court date in New Orleans is scheduled for June 28.

Diaz's first combat sports card as a promoter could happen as early as this summer, he and Rosenfield said. The event under Diaz's Real Fight Inc. banner could be MMA, boxing or a mixture of the two. Rosenfield said boxing is the frontrunner at the moment.

"I'm going to put all the biggest names that I can find on there and a bunch of good fighters that I know on there," Diaz said. "And then we're going to blow that out."

The most interesting wrinkle? Diaz said, depending on what happens with the Paul fight, he could headline the Real Fight Inc. card himself against an opponent to be determined. He does have other options, though. Diaz's was in dialogue with both Logan Paul (the real one) and Floyd Mayweather prior to booking the fight with Jake Paul. He also could go back to the UFC for a big fight.

"I'm going to have my show, but I would like to fight the best fighter in the world always," Diaz said. "That's my plan."

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Real Fight Inc. (RFI) announced the broadcast team and fight week schedule for the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz pay-per-view taking place on Friday, August 5th live from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.

Paul vs Diaz will feature Ariel Helwani, Shawn Porter and Todd Grisham as the night’s commentators and ringside analysts. The event will be hosted by DAZN Boxing Show veteran Ade Oladipo and undisputed super featherweight world champion boxer Alycia Baumgardner, while entertainment personality Sibley Scoles will join the team as ringside reporter.

The Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz fight week events will all be open to the public and will kick off on Wednesday, August 2nd with athlete workouts at The Factory in Dallas, TX beginning at 3pm CT with doors opening at 2:30pm CT. Workouts will feature Jake Paul, Nate Diaz, Amanda Serrano, Heather Hardy, Ashton Sylve, Chris Avila, Jeremy Stephens and Shadasia Green. DAZN will air the workouts live. A surprise MVP guest will also participate in the open workouts and will be available for interviews.

On Thursday, August 3rd at 1pm CT with doors opening at 12:30pm CT, fighters will return to The Factory and face off in their final press conference before the pay-per-view event. The press conference will be open to the public. The public weigh-ins will take place on Friday, August 4th at the American Airlines Center at 5pm CT with doors opening at 4pm CT.

There will be three additional preliminary bouts during the Paul vs. Diaz pay-per-view.

Super-middleweight Kevin Newman will take on Quilisto Madera over eight rounds, and light-middleweights Jose Aguayo vs Noel Cavazos and light-welterweight MMA veterans Luiciano Ramos vs Carlton Hamilton will each battle across four-round matchups.

I’d say Diaz gets stopped. If he doesn’t Paul is in trouble because Diaz cardio is great so if he isn’t getting beaten to a stoppage come rounds 7,8,9,10 Paul going to be in a world of pain.

Also wouldn’t say Paul is significantly bigger, Diaz is 6 foot he competed in ju jitz 180lb Div in 2005… hasn’t made 155 in 8 years, and isn’t a small 170er and (mma guys cut lots more because elweight is more important grappling) , a little bigger Mabey but Diaz looks 190+

It's all about context though isn't it, Holyfield got knocked out in one round by a MMA fighter. And this is what I dislike about these fights because they use these type of wins as being some major achievement, beating guys way past their best who are also having these fights for an easy pay day.

I agree although I don’t think those two fights are comparable. Holyfield was almost 60…..Belford 44….. on the other fight, Silva was 46, 11 years OLDER than former world champ Chavez… so on paper a very impressive win.

Anderson Silvas first and only pro boxing match in his prime against another boxer who wasn't a world beater but not a novice he was easily knocked out in two rounds

The Paul vs. Diaz showdown will take place on Saturday, August 5, live at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.

Jake Paul-Nate Diaz To Land As Second-Best Selling Combat Sports Event At American Airlines Center

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz are set to do big business by the time they enter the ring.

Their upcoming ten-round bout will headline a DAZN/ESPN+/PPV.com Pay-Per-View event this Saturday from American Airlines Center (AAC) in Dallas, Texas. The show is guaranteed to produce the largest live gate for any boxing event at the venue and its second-best for any combat sports event.

“It is remarkable to witness Jake Paul continue to break records,” stated Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions along with Paul. “Jake had the highest combat sports gate at Amalie Arena in Tampa Florida, the second highest combat sports gate at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona and now the second highest gate ever at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, an arena that has hosted six UFC PPV events.

The Paul-Diaz ‘Ready 4 War’ event is exceeded only by UFC 277 last July 20, topped by the Julianna Pena-Amanda Nunes rematch. That event had an announced crowd of 19.442 and produced a live gate of $4,555,691 in ticket sales.

AAC officials have informed BS.com that few tickets are left for Saturday’s show.

“The world will be watching as notorious fighters Jake Paul and Nate Diaz face off in Dallas,” Dave Brown, AAC chief operating office and general manager, said of the event. “The demand for this fight shows why American Airlines Center continues to be a top destination for premier sports competitions.”

The card also features record-setting seven-division and reigning undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30KOs), who faces former WBO featherweight titlist Heather Hardy in the chief support. The all-Brooklyn battle is a rematch to their September 2019 battle, which saw Serrano drop a then-unbeaten Hardy in the opening round en route to a ten-round, unanimous decision to win the WBO title and begin her undisputed run.

Serrano who signed with MVP in 2021—fully unified the division in a ten-round win over WBA champ Erika Cruz this past February 4 at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York City. The event also features recent MVP signee and top super middleweight contender Shadasia Green (12-0, 11KOs), who faces Olivia Curry (7-0, 2KOs) in a scheduled ten-round bout.

Paul (6-1, 4KOs) enters the fight off his first career defeat, an eight-round, split decision to England’s Tommy Fury on February 26 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The fight was his first versus an exclusive boxer, having previously defeated former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley (twice), along with MMA fighter Ben Askren, NBA star Nate Robinson and fellow social media influencer AnEson Gib.

Silva held a 3-1 boxing record and a win over former WBC middleweight titlist Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. before he was dropped late en route to an eight-round, unanimous decision to Paul last October 28 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Woodley made his pro boxing debut in his August 2021 meeting with Paul, who won an eight-round split decision. Paul scored a highlight reel, sixth-round knockout in their December 2021 rematch in front of a sold-out AMALIE Arena in Tampa.

Diaz will make his boxing pro debut in what should provide closure to a long brewing rivalry. The 38-year-old former UFC star from Stockton, California has turned up at several Paul events—often in support of stablemate Chris Avila, who fights on Saturday’s undercard, his third on an MVP event. The two camps nearly came to blows during fight week preceding Paul’s repeat win over Woodley in Tampa.

The scheduled ten-round main event will take place at a maximum catchweight of 185-pounds and with ten-ounce gloves, the standard for any boxing match above welterweight. Both the weight and the glove size are foreign to Diaz, who fought in the 155-pound lightweight and 170-pound welterweight division during his MMA career.

Diaz still carries enough clout to where his decision to box and in an attention-grabbing fight versus Paul was enough to sway the buying public.
