Haye v Holyfield, all the belts come to the table
Haye v Holyfield, all the belts come to the table
Apologies if we have been around the block with this one, but I still love this as a cruiserweight match-up.
It is 12 rounds - they're both bringing all the CW belts to the table - so nobody is a challenger.
And let's go for somewhere neutral as well - so no London or Vegas - maybe Monaco.
Let's also ignore their later future HW careers as benchmarks.....this is strictly them doing the business as prime cruisers.
Haye has a chance for me; he's was quick as hell across the ring and with his hands too, never lacking in confidence and was an explosive hitter into the bargain who dropped people hard and early.
On the downside.....he tripped-up against Carl Thompson and was someone who had a problem pacing fights. Haye is perhaps not quite as dedicated as he should be to face a relentless machine like Holyfield.
Holyfield brings ruggedness, iron-like discipline, hits plenty hard himself which can put Haye down and a formidable workrate. Every round Evander will be pressing Haye and forcing David to defend himself or throw bombs to stop the march.
I can see this one going for Holyfield in most circumstances; but it is not fantasy to think that Haye's serious power and speed might be bad news for Holyfield.
You don't want to be taking too much from Haye at crusierweight, even if you are an ironman like Evander.

Holyfield... all day everyday... looking back on Haye's career he had pretty shallow competition, and it's amazing how he was able to make people believe he was going to be the next undisputed champion. Sure he had speed and power, but outside of Jean Marc Mormeck there was nobody he faced that really gave any indication that he was in the same level as Holyfield or Usyk.

Depends on who has the best S&C coach(Steroids&Cycling).
Re: Haye v Holyfield, all the belts come to the table
Holyfield kayos Haye. Evander was too relentless, while Haye was vulnerable enough.
Re: Haye v Holyfield, all the belts come to the table
If Haye fought the fight of his life he'd lose a decision. Otherwise he gets knocked out.
Holyfield is just flat out better than him.

Holyfield beats Haye at cruiser. Holyfield was the best cruiser ever for me, apart from Usyk possibly.
Re: Haye v Holyfield, all the belts come to the table
Haye might rock him with a right hand early but Holy was a level above him. Holy stops him in 10 rounds with a few shaky moments.

David Haye was not in the great Evander Holyfield's level. Holyfield by knockout in 7.

I think we have our answer gents
But there's a side of me that says Haye might have an earthly.
What does the case for Haye look like if we're playing devil's advocates?

Haye has a massive right hand with speed and power. Holyfield could be reckless and liked to exchange. Unlikely though.

The thing is Holy could take the heat and then some. David, on the other hand…

Haye is one of the greatest Mythical fighters of all time. If we ignore what he did in real life, this is a competitive fight.
