Joe Bugner vs. Scott LeDoux

Post by scorpio83 »

12 or 15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Bugner would outbox LeDoux behind his jabs, right hands and combinations to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Very easy UD for Bugner. He had too much technical skill and speed for the plodding LeDoux.

Remember: LeDoux's forte as fighter - his strength and mauling ability - would count for nothing. Bugner, the bigger and stronger athlete, would push LeDoux around with ease.

It's a bad fight from an action perspective. Too much mauling, not enough clean punches. But Bugner's left jab would slap, cuff, and dapple LeDoux's head all night long.

A better fight, in terms of tactics and competitiveness, is Bugner vs Ward. I started a thread on that one.

Bugner was certainly the more accomplished and better boxer. Nevertheless, Ledoux was a tough man with lots of heart. He gave many better Fighters a run for their money. In his own way, he was crafty as he fought in a Crouch and had a decent job. He could crack with his overhand right. Bugner would win, but Ledoux would make it uncomfortable for him at times.

Do you think LeDoux had the power to trouble a big, brick-jawed guy like Bugner? I don't.

At best, Scott was an average puncher. He didn't have the TNT of Lyle or Frazier. I don't think LeDoux had the power of other Bugner foes either, such as Henry Cooper, Mac Foster, Jimmy Ellis, or even Muhammad Ali.

I don't think LeDoux's power would be a factor in this fight.

For sure, LeDoux uses his physical bulk, strength, and gritty aggression to bull Bugner around sometimes. He might look Joe look bad. But nothing more. LeDoux could not use power against Bugner to the same effect that Lyle and Frazier did.
