Tyson Chandler was drafted out of high school. So he was far less than 22.

Fun fact, before last season, NBA heights were changed to reflect heights w/o shoes... gamblers were complaining that the inflated heights were affecting analysis for betting.. at least that's the story I heard.

So, Tyson Chandler being listed at 7'0" is an accurate barefoot measurement.. within 1/2" inch.

Also, not sure what possessed me to reply to such an old post..

This thread is old, but is revived from time to time and has already 4 pages. As if Fury is still growing and everyone is observing the progress.

Tyson's two biggest wins were against fighters who were very used to being significantly the taller men in their own main fights - which might be why Tyson gets the view he is feet taller than anyone in the division.

Definitely his height and reach played a massive part in his fight with Klitchsko and his 2 fights with Wilder. Uses his advantages well.

Being in tier three means I've watched a lot of boxing related cobblers recently and posted on the forum a lot more, and on Fury's instagram he was singing a song or something to Paris Fury (who's now training away in his 'stories') during which he mentioned he was 6'7". On that Heavyweights thing where they all stood around a ring with Steve Bunce in the middle, I'm sure John Fury said 6'8" and when Phelps interviewed Ricky Hatton about Wilders mad claims of cheating Hatton said Fury was 6'10.

All you need to do is watch when the ref is giving instructions at the start of Fury Wilder 2 and you can see in boxing boots which basically don't have much of a sole on them he looks taller than Wilder when they're properly head to head.

It doesn't really matter that much at the end of the day, does it? He's very tall. That's all we need to know.

When I started Uni and there's that open day sort of thing where you sign up for extra curricular activities and can register yourself for being tested for dyslexia and stuff like that and everyone from that new year is in the same room, there was a lad who was seven feet tall and some other guy who was like, 6'6 or something went over and shook his hand. I don't know what he said to him but I imagined it was something along the lines of "finally I'm not the tallest person in the room."

The height of sportspeople doesn't seem to be as accurately recorded and reported as it once was. Is Fury exactly what he says he is? Maybe? Maybe not? But what isn't contestable is that he is an absolute giant, by anyone's estimations.

Fast fact.... you're taller laying down than you are standing up and your height changes throughout the course of the day. That's why the Guinness Book of Records does multiple measurements over a 24 hour timeframe to basically average out someone's height.

You can be as much as 2 centimeters taller laying down than you are standing up. Although there are examples in history of people who could manipulate their vertebrae to be inches taller than what they were.

I suspect Fury is 6'8" and 3/4" or some minute increment, so it's just easier to say 6'9". I'm reminded of Richard Kiel who was 7'1 and 1/16th inches, so they just said 7'2" because it was not only more impressive it was easier to say.

This thread is obviously old so not sure if I’ve already said the exact same thing but in the face offs vs Klitschko, Tyson looked to be looking straight at Wladimir with no height advantage at all. When they got in the ring he was undoubtably taller. A clear case that one of Klitschko and Boente’s stupid little clauses was that Wladimir could wear a pair of Cuban heels at all the face offs.

It's a strange one- Tyson looked 40 when he was 20 however in recent years he has started to look younger (strange when you consider in the meantime he spent years eating shit and on the ale and beak).

I wonder what his secret beauty routine is?

Hughie on the other hand - again looked 40 when he was 20, however continues to age quickly.

This is despite his continued bacne and still being a babby and not yet having his man strength.

I've read he's over a foot taller than his wife, so he must be around 7ft 4" then?

Maybe whatever it is will also explain his voice changing from that funny Lancashire accent to now sounding gruff like his dad ... And how he lost his air in 1 weekend :verysad:

Does uncastrated boar meat do that?

It's quite funny when boxing fans only have the opportunity to talk about his height or who would win if Tyson ever fought a top contender ..

*Waiting to hear who Fury is in negotiations to fight today.
