Why do Forest have Mull of Kintyre as their anthem? Bizarre.

Warrington licking his lips at the Wood cut. ‘Bet I can get me head into that.’

He was also prepared to trade.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 18:47 that was the approach he took the first fight too pretty much, lots of jabbing and picking away at rang. moving in and out quickkly. he just made a mistake and paid for it
At least tonight he brought a solid game plan and never strayed from it.

Wood fought almost the perfect 12 round fight against the hardest puncher in his division who brutally knocked him out last time.
Respect for that. Could have done with a bit more action, but he did what he had to![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

119-109 Wood, pretty much flawless really, I don't know what the heck Lara was playing at he was pitiful, I suppose he looked a bit dangerous early with the haymakers, caught Wood a few times, Wood dropped him with a lovely right uppercut in the 2nd but he seemed to be finding his feet in the next couple rounds but just fell off a cliff, barely done a thing and it suited Wood who just peppered away with the jab, the jab to the body was class, countered Lara's occasional crude lunges comfortably with the left hook or right, was able to maneuver Lara and keep him at bay, Lara was just terrible but Wood was brilliant

Great win for wood.
BUT. the cynic in me thinks the absolutly killed lara with some kind of rehydration clause after he missed weight. Looks so flat and weak in there. I think BBBoC need to stay out of championship weigh ins, if someones too unhealthy, pull the fight, otherwise stay out of it. Lara might of made weight and hydrated well if BBBoC stayed out of it... instead he misses weight, gets some weird restrictions placed on him by his opponents team, and comes out looking dredfull.
I also firmly believe all contracts should should be open to the public (or set by sanctioning bodys with no clauses ect)...
Still good win for wood.

the legs early werent there for lara. even jabs rocking him back. he seemed to steady himself and started looking a bit dangeous for a couple rounds, but then flattened out. wood boxed exactly how he needed to and didnt seem like getting ktfo the first time hurt his confidence
whatever gets made next, i would love wood-lopez, wood vs lopez and lara's lefftovers

Saw last few rounds. I don't know if it was the early combo and knockdown got to him, or if it was the weight etc but that wasn't the Lara we have seen in recent fights.
Wood coasting last 4.

That win moved Wood to #2 pn boxrec, and the #1 is Brandon Figueroa who Wood- if he put on another masterclass like tonight-I bet money would beat him

Did he know what he had to do? What weight did he have to make wensday? I can’t find any solid info on the bbboc weight checks. I don’t think they have set weight checks, they just randomly make a call that your top big by the sound of it…KiwiRider wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 19:04samwbr wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 19:00He could have just done the weight. Still good win for wood.Coming in nearly a division heavier was stupid. Whatever the clauses, you know what you have to weigh.
He goes for a weight check then gets told he can not come in under 128.5…. I don’t agree with that method from bbboc

I think Figueroa is the easiest of the two. Lopez can wait, I also think Brandon brings more money in America. That's the fight I would make.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 19:14lopez just ktfo conlin easy work same night, let's get them together before anything with fig

Does anyone understand the weight checks?
Who does em?
What did Lara weigh then?
What did Leigh weigh then?
Is there a limit or do the drs just make a decision on your health?
Do other countries do them?
What would happen if Lara ignored it and made 126?

The governing body set the rules for championship fights. For Instance, some used to implement a three knockdown rule, others didn’t. They were enforced by the local commission.gregregegg wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 19:23 Does anyone understand the weight checks?

This is from the WBA website tonight and indicates their rules prevail:
As the WBA rules dictate in their section “rules about the official weigh-in”, number 6 “If the champion does not make the limit weight of the division after the two (2) additional hours granted, he/she will lose the title. If the challenger makes the weight and wins the bout, he shall be declared champion. If the champion who did not make the weight is the winner of the bout, the title will be declared vacant.”

I don’t think the WBA hold check weigh ins. These are their regulations regarding failed weigh-ins:
Absent contractual provisions to the contrary, fi the bout takes place, a boxer who does not make weight after the two-hour extension shall forfeit 35% of his purse, with
25% going to the promoter and 10% to his opponent. In addition, the boxer shall pay the
Association the bout sanction fee. A boxer who refuses to attempt to make weight during the two-hour extension shall forfeit 45% of his purse, with 30% going to the promoter and 15% to his opponent.

Fair play to the man. Didn’t think it was gonna go down like that, but really impressed and happy for him. It’s nice to have a proper world champ back in the country
