Brocky it's sort of a hunch because what is documented about this guy is limited and there are some who think he really was one of the truly greatest. But without more info on the guy the best you can do is "guess" he's certainly the least documented of the group named. But by reading between the lines I have suspected he was a very gifted fighter. Maybe it's more the "lost opportunity" aspect that has my imagination. Nothing taken from Sam at all....he had a bit higher profile and more is known and he was able to express he abilities due to greater opportunities.
If you go by what is documented and known to a certainty, I suppose the fair name to be on top would be Sam's.

In the real world, the only fight that could have been is Jeffries-Jeanette, with a rather green Joe Jeanette.Ambling Alp wrote:I also have them

It's pretty close. Langford was alittle better than wills, Wills was a little better than Jeanette, and Jeanette was a little better than McVey.
They would all give Jeffries trouble, but I would bet on Jefrries against all of them.
