Boxrec's rating algorithm should be augmented to include historical rankings for each weight class in any given year.
For example, it would be great if someone could enter "June, 1977," then get Boxrec's rankings of all welterweights, heavyweights, and so on for that point in time. Ditto for any weight class at any other juncture in the past.
Is this something that can be done? It would make the site much more interesting (than it already is).
Boxrec ratings for any year in the past?
Re: Boxrec ratings for any year in the past?
It's not easy to allocate boxers to a division today, doing it retro actively would be very difficult.

Well, if you can figure out a way to do it, that would be great. Right now, concerning historic ratings, the world has to rely on Ring Magazine's Annual Ratings. That's only so-so as a historical research tool because it only offers end-of-year ratings.

Maybe a boxer's best result in the past 18 months could decide, to what division allocate a boxer on a specific historical date.
