WHAT'S THE LATEST ON JOHNSON?

not heard anything current on Glen Johnson, who was supposed to arrive in Englad a couple of days ago to my knowledge. I know that Woods has locked himself away but what of Johnson? Any stories, any profiles/interviews forthcoming for the british websites? etc

I know that they seem to be taking Woods lightly. Johnson's ppl - IMO - have made a serious error. They think that when Woods took a stay busy fight with Delisle, that Woods was avoiding Johnson to "massage his title".

In fact, these guys didn't even object to Woods-Delisle 2 after it was previewed on fightnews! (Well informed Warrior's) & if I remember right, Johnson had already had a fight not long before that. Not to mention that he was trying to get a rematch with Jones, via boxingtalk,

As far as I know, Woods has always wanted this fight since he won the title. He seems hungry and ambitious to me. I hope for Glen's sake that he hasn't underestimated Woods' drive & improvement.

cos they keep telling themselves that woods was afraid to fight him (when woods has been asking for tarver & johnson since winning the title). team johnson are giving off signals that they have misinterpreted Woods' ambition and drive this time, and I think Woods will surprise them mentally and physically.

Johnson told maxboxing he doesn't think Woods has improved very much

I have a feeling Clinton is going to nail him and really surprise him. CW is far better physically now, and he has that amateur pedigree. He can punch so much more accratly than Johnson, who tends to wing his shots.

Woods has locked himself away and taken the fight gravely seriously

Poxon says Woods is going to "cave his head in" this time

I just hope CW wins emphatically. Making a powerful statement might just transcend the petty bickering between the promoters and give us a special all British bout with Calzaghe. We need outstanding domestic matches, especially when the UK has two world champions within 7 pounds of one another. British boxing is so polarised between different titles that you seldom get 2 genuine peers together.

Inexplicably, maxboxing's resident humanist tom gerbasi called Woods "the scrappy brit". Woods is one of the cleanest boxers around.

Glad Woods is focused in training, I think he can do a job on Johnson.

Should be a good night of boxing with Toney-Peter just a few hours later.

imagine if arthur abraham hadn't fallen ill, there would've been 3 major fight cards on one night

sure, that is partly true but look at Hobson-Macca. Both are Warren guys. We'll never see a rematch of a genuine classic, cos one will go the WBO route & another will go the WBU
