Mike Weaver vs. Frans Botha

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Either Weaver punish Botha on the inside with jabs and body shots including his right hands and left hooks to take a decision or he would stop Botha from rounds 10 to 11. What do you guys think and who do you got?

I'm assuming both guys fight their best.

Weaver definitely wins big. Dominates the action with his jab and body attack. But I can't decide if it ends by stoppage (which could happen later, as you said) or if Botha hears the final bell.

Botha, at his best, could take a pounding and use an unconventional defense to remain on his feet against better guys. Only Tyson and Lewis KO'd him early and decisively. Although Hercules Weaver was a big-banger, I don't rate his power as on-par with Iron Mike and Lennox.

Therefore, it could go the full 12 or 15 rounds. Easily.

Weaver.....but there's some biggish bumps in the road, Botha had some ability of his own.

Think Botha could have rocked Weaver as Coetzee did? I don't. Botha didn't have Gerrie's power, hand-speed, or combination punching ability.

Agreed Jason.....but Botha was a tad cuter than his fellow Bok and whilst he's not rocking Weaver, he's in the fight and making a proper nuisance of himself.

Weaver wins it but Botha (even without the bombs Coetzee could bring) is making it a bumpy night but in a different way.

That's an ideal word for describing Botha's fighting style: a nuisance.

So yeah, I can see what you mean.

Weaver was faster, more skilled and durable. Botha was pretty tough, but he always lacked something against the top fighters.
