15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
Norton would overwhelm the Dancing Destroyer behind his jabs, wearing him down with body shots and nailing him with big left-right on the face to KO Hide in 3 to 5 rounds. What do you guys think and who do you got?
Ken Norton vs. Herbie Hide
Re: Ken Norton vs. Herbie Hide
Norton would pound Hide into KO defeat. Takes anywhere from five to eight rounds. Herbie didn't have the durability or defense to hang in there with a power-hitting, top-flight athlete like Norton.
There's the off-chance that Hide, a quick and hurtful puncher, could penetrate Ken's cross-arm defense and land a crackling right. Norton might hit the floor, but even if this happened, he'd arise to take control of the action.
Let's not overlook that Herbie, who fought his best fights weighing in the 190s, was naturally smaller than the 213 lbs Norton. That's another reason to expect Norton to chop him down.

Norton didn't do well against big punchers, which Hide was ..... ask Bowe. Hide wasn't nearly in the same class as Norton and would get dispatched in five.

Hide could punch for sure. But how much?boxingjones wrote: ↑10 Jun 2023, 21:59 Norton didn't do well against big punchers, which Hide was ..... ask Bowe. Hide wasn't nearly in the same class as Norton and would get dispatched in five.![]()

Do you think Hide's power was superior to that of Norton opponents Quarry, Kirkman, and Garcia? I won't even mention the harder hitters Ken faced, such as Foreman, Shavers, and Cooney, who clearly packed more voltage than Hide.
