Boxing is a joke
I will keep this brief. Professional boxing in this country is a joke.
People are faced with friday night live boxing, having its top of the bill being an 8 round fight between Fraser Clarke & Mariuz Wach.
People can slag off Tommy Fury v KSI all they want but that fight will beat any other 2023 Uk show both in PPV buys and revenue generated.
People slag off misfits and white collar shows But at least the fans are entertained.
If I am wrong please explain why?

When I heard Clarke was taking this without a warm up, I thought it was a jokeSpud wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:19 I will keep this brief. Professional boxing in this country is a joke.

Fighters are too afraid to lose and expect big money quickly without achieving much

Meh, I think that's a perfectly acceptable contest. I have criticised Clarke for boxing Wach at all at this stage but it's fine really innit?Spud wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:19 I will keep this brief. Professional boxing in this country is a joke.

The KSI v Tommy Fury thing will be a better seller than most proper boxing because he has a bigger fanbase willing to pay money to see it but its not really relevant to actual boxing anymore than Top Gun 2 selling more tickets than Tyson Fury v Wilder.

Don't mind Clarke/Wach as a main event, well at least for a NXTGEN/Prospect type card, don't know if the fella Azim was fighting was much cop but think this is a bigger fight than the original, Clarke an Olympic medalist and Wach a former world title challenger albeit years ago but he still mixes at a decent level occasionally, he made Whyte look domestic level not long ago, not bad for Clarke's 6th fight or whatever it is
Poo card nonetheless mind but they have had a few call offs, I like Chamberlain/Bregeon

Yet you thought Shalom was a breath of fresh air - Fait to say you got that one horribly wrong although not as horrible as this card.Spud wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:19 I will keep this brief. Professional boxing in this country is a joke.

There’s more noise and a bigger crowd for the 3rd fight down the card here than there was for Adeleye last week.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 14:52Maybe but you’re definitely an optimistjameswilson wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 14:47 In my opinion Clarke is better than Adeleye and this Wach is better than the dude Adeleye boxed last week.![]()

Spot on Spud, boxing globally is a joke, has been for years. Ask any of the old school promoters off the record and they will openly say so. Officially, though,is an entirely different matterSpud wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:19 I will keep this brief. Professional boxing in this country is a joke.

Re: Boxing is a joke
You're comparing the biggest 'fight' in Misfit Boxing history to a quiet night at York Hall, get some perspective. Isn't Misfits headlining with a tag team match soon? That to me is a joke, not a poorly booked card you can easily skip

I don’t care about this enough to argue.
I think it’s fine, you think it’s shit.
Opinions vary.

Good summary :TU:Controversial wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:38 Fighters are too afraid to lose and expect big money quickly without achieving much
I would add though that managers are just as much to blame for that as their fighters, if not more.

It is fine for a Friday night NextGen style show but this is the only U.K. show Sky have in June.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 14:00Friday night at York Hall?Coco wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:46Acceptable contest, not top of the billleejonesjnr wrote: ↑16 Jun 2023, 13:43

I suppose wanting more of something is fine but it’s not a criticism of this contest.
Ah remember the glory days?
Bobby Vanzie, Takaloo, Wayne Alexander every week, Enzo Mac chasing Johnny Nelson etc.
I know that reads like I’m being sarcastic but I have very fond memories of sitting in my bedroom as a boy with a tub of ice cream every week watching the boxing.

People are missing my point.
Fraser Clarke v Marius Wach is a perfectly acceptable contest at this stage of Frazers career.
It is the promotion I am having a go at. Yes I know recently heaped praise on Ben Shalom, but to have that promotion as a live tv broadcast and Clarke v Clarke as the top of the bill is Totally unacceptable.
I am surprised the executives at Sky TV accepted it
