Ugliest world title fight you have watched?
What is the ugliest world title fight you have seen?
I raise the question because, having seen Lawrence Okolie vs Chris Billam-Smith, I can't think of an uglier world title fight I have seen. There was absolutely nothing to like about it. Zero.

Holyfield vs ruiz 2-3
Re: Ugliest world title fight you have watched?
John Ruiz vs Kirk Johnson was particularly ugly, foul filled and just all around sloppy.
I don't know about Ugly but Chris Byrd vs Davarryl Williamson was the boringest ass fight of all time.

Surely, Nelson vs De Leon. Almost nothing happened.

1. Ward - Kovalov 2 for Sure !!
2. Both Bowe - Golota bouts as well.
3. Larry Holmes - Randy Cobb
4. Vitali Klistchko - Shannon Briggs
5. Duran - Bizzarro
6. Griffith - Paret 2
7. Mancini - Kim
3 - 7 because of The Refs Lacking Discernment and/or just a Bad Mismatch.

little klit deserves a special spot in that category.
ugly and boring against handpicked, smaller (at that time everybody was) mandatories, is one thing but if' everytime the klit gets hit, he instantly jumps into a clinch/hold/lean over, the ref yells 'stop punching! stop punching!' and steps in, to separate, the whole thing get's ridiculous.
with the povetkin fight that procedure became a non stop illegal shit show.

Re: Ugliest world title fight you have watched?
I have vague memories of De Leon v Nelson...then the follow up of Warring v Nelson.
Klistchko v Fury i've heard described numerous times as 'a masterclass'. Fair enough, if sticking to a shitty, boring gameplan and boring the arse out of the event for the final result is what mattered (and it did) then fair doos.
To me, as a heavyweight contest between 2 huge, skilled behemoths, I was just left with a continual 'when does this fight actually start?' feeling ie it was shit..

Re: Ugliest world title fight you have watched?
Mike Weaver v James “Quick” Tillis, Rosemont Horizon outside of Chicago 1981. I am not sure how judges were even able to score the fight given the lack of action. Only saving grace was the other main event that night was Hagler-Hamsho I, which was gory as hell but Hamsho was coming off of wins vs Minter, Curtis Parker and Wilfred Scypion and was thought to be a top opponent. Hagler provided a very professional beat down.
Re: Ugliest world title fight you have watched?
If I remember right there was an all time low as far as total punches landed. Around 60ish? To me that is both ugly and boring.
