Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
Perhap the most ridiculous offer I have heard of. They (team Canelo)wanted the 39yr old Jack to fight at 180 (20lbs below cruiser limit) Plus have a rehydration clause. A sign Canelo retires soon? I think so.

Isn’t WBC Cruiserweight at 190 now?
Re: Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
Jack won the belt weighing 199 3/4.

Criminal.
If you want to fight at catch weight, great. But if you want to fight for a title, fight for it at its designated weight. Otherwise the fight should not be sanctioned.

i'd like to see canelo in a fairly judged fight.
without him knowing 5 rounds are in his pocket from the get go, no matter what.
that 'offer' is nothing but an absolute embarassment for team canelo!
team nelo further polishing the atg legacy monument of the mexican boxing messiah.

I'd definitely like to see Canelo-Bivol II but specifically at super middleweight, like Bivol asked for. But you won't see Canelo or the WBC risking those sacred super middleweight belts to Bivol.apollo creed wrote: ↑18 Jun 2023, 16:36 Tbh I'd like to see Canelo vs Bivol 2 or Canelo vs Benavidez.

im not so hot on rematches when one guy clearly beat the other pretty recently
for canelo any of the following i'd prefer to bivol 2:
-bert
-morell
-benavidez
-munguia
-mbili
-charlo (though ffs get active dude)
-any world level cruiser, and hell even jack

WBC's issue is with Bivol, a Russian, due to the attack on Ukraine. They won't sanction anything involving a Russian.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑18 Jun 2023, 20:40I'd definitely like to see Canelo-Bivol II but specifically at super middleweight, like Bivol asked for. Re: Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
bivol already beat canelo handily, 9 round to 3 type win are yall really that interested in a rematch already? i mean it'ss better than a canelo can crush, but there's lots of fights id rather see canelo in
Re: Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
Canelo could buy some time by boxing Jamie Munguia, he has a 42-0 record with 33 KO's and resides at 168.

Re: Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
Tbh I don't understand Bivol and his team for not wanting to fight Canelo again at 175? I mean WTF? Its even more big money on the table, plus that Canelo didn't look stellar in his last fight.
Why Bivol would prefer to drain himself to 168 lbs to fight Canelo for his 168 lbs belts? It's even more risky.
Is Bivol afraid that he could be jobbed at 175 in a rematch and lose his WBA belt and not have a bargain chip to unify with Beterbiev ?
Bivol has some inactivity that is adding some ring rust and that's not good for him.
Is Bivol trying to play some type of games to get more money in negotiations?

What happens if Canelo wins it at 180? Can Golovkin then come along and challenge him for it, but insist the limit is 170? And then if he wins someone else comes along and wants to fight him for the Cruiserweight title at 160? It's absurd. The title can only be won by a fight at that weight.

EXCEPT they really wanna follow thru with the blatantly obvious robbery by 100% made up imaginary scorecards that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual fight. no matter what.
they already tried their utmost to make a fantasy draw out of a one sided boxing clinic by bivol the last time round. bivol just wouldn't let them.
and canelo in all his delusional grandeur had the nerve to actually state at the post fight presser (by all means i can't imagine that he really believed he won that fight) that the judges fucked HIM over!
could it really be that almighty canelo still has no clue what's going on?

Yes, and Bivol should get more money. A lot more. Like his team said, Canelo wants the exact terms of the first fight, that he was dominated in.apollo creed wrote: ↑19 Jun 2023, 09:06 Tbh I don't understand Bivol and his team for not wanting to fight Canelo again at 175? Canelo is between a rock and a hard place at 168, which is why he may consider retirement imo.

https://wbcboxing.com/en/bridgerweight/
https://wbcboxing.com/en/heavy/
There is conflicting information from what is on the WBC website and what the WBC President publicly stated about three years ago. The WBC ratings show that the cruiserweight division is 200 pounds. The WBC bridgerweight division is 200-224 pounds. The heavyweight division is +200 pounds. This doesn't make sense. At 200 pounds, a boxer could be considered a cruiserweight and bridgerweight. At 201 pounds, a boxer could be considered a bridgerweight and heavyweight.
The WBC President stated that the cruiserweight division would be lowered from 200 to 190. 191-224 would be for the new bridgerweight division. More than 224 would be heavyweight. It seems to me that the information on the WBC website is current and correct. The WBC created a bridgerweight division which the other major sanctioning bodies do not recognize. Contrary to what was publicly stated three years ago, the WBC has kept the cruiserweight limit at 200 pounds and heavyweight limit at above 200 pounds. Therefore, the bridgerweight division is an option for boxers in the 200-224 pound range to fight for a WBC bridgerweight title. It is a weight class (bridgerweight) within a weight class (heavyweight). It is a way for the WBC to have more title fights.

Re: Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
nobody gives a flying fart about frikkin badgerweight.
a handful of fighters, unsuccessful in their division (cruiser or heavy) might seriously consider going for it but after one win, they will return to their original weightclass for more money.
most likely the bridgerweight 'champion' after winning the title will always sooner or later step up to heavy cause there's more money in it.
that belt will be vacated constantly just to be fought for again by two fighters on the low from either cruiser or heavy.
an utterly ridiculous invention of an absolutely useless division. braindead.

Re: Badou Jack turns down ridiculous offer from Canelo
I agree with everything you wrote and I don't think there will be a bridgerweight champion with many title defenses. I believe that the WBC stated that cruiserweight was going to be 190 because it would make it more possible for Canelo to win a cruiserweight title. The reason why I believe they are not making these changes with the exception of adding a bridgerweight division is because it makes boxing less safe and we know it is never going to be totally safe. If the WBC made cruiserweight 190, bridgerweight 224, and heavyweight +224 like they had stated, then there would be a 34 pound gap between bridger and cruiser (224-190=34). If they were going to make safer changes to the weight limits, it makes more sense to have cruiserweight 195, bridgerweight 215, and heavyweight +215. Then there would be 20 pounds between cruiser 195 and bridger 215 and 20 pounds between light heavy 175 and cruiser 195.adislav123 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2023, 17:11 nobody gives a flying fart about frikkin badgerweight.

Good thing for Badou Jack for refusing that sh1tty offer by Canelo. He should defend his title against his next mandatory and have a unification bout afterwards so he can retire with 30 wins.

Seems like Bena vs Morrell is a done deal.
Too bad the Canelo fight isn't next for Bena, but atleast we still get a good fight.
With that there aren't really good options left for Canelo.
Would be kinda fun if Morrell came out of nowhere and beat Bena and Canelo in his next two fights.
