Respected former heavyweight and long-time boxing journo Ray Wheatley has passed away, aged 74.
Wheatley is an Australian Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, a former Golden Gloves boxing champion and an Australian heavyweight contender. He also acted as an IBF supervisor, referee and judge of world championship fights both in Australia and overseas.
In 1969, Wheatley dropped the great Tony Mundine in the first round of their bout and is the only Australian to have ever sat Mundine on his backside.
Your work is completed Ray Wheatley. RIP.
