AJ dominating another Fury thread.

If we are using Suliman as any kind of yardstick we are all in trouble.mickey1975 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 04:17 I don’t think tonyevs, The Gratest and co should listen to the George Groves podcast today. Mauricio Suliman, when asked about the best ever fight for the WBC title had Fury v Wilder 3 on top. He considered Mike Tyson winning the belt and Chavez, etc but couldn’t get away from ‘one of the greatest fights ever seen’. George Foreman said similar recently. That’s legacy.

Obviously, him, Groves and Foreman are now being called Fury nuthuggers…. Obviously, a bloke who calls himself The Gratest will know more than the head of the major sanctioning body.Frostieballs wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 08:13If we are using Suliman as any kind of yardstick we are all in trouble.mickey1975 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 04:17 I don’t think tonyevs, The Gratest and co should listen to the George Groves podcast today. Having the usual problem with reading comprehension I see.
I just said it was a great fight, I agreed with Senhor Sulaiman, Groves and Foreman.

Jeez Louise!!
Is this thread still going on about…… absolutely nothing?
Where is the massive announcement?
The Heavyweight division is so so bad atm.
It is laughable and I’m not digging any of them out. (Fury, AJ, Usyk, Wilder)
But FFS. Can we just all agree? The fighters and promoters don’t give a monkey’s about the fans (did they ever?). It’s why none of aforementioned get into any All Time Top (well 25 at best) lists. And I think I’m being generous
Legacy? Ffs!!!!

Boxing fans don't really get bang for their buck. At the top level it no longer pretends to be a sport. Purely about cash and light entertainment now.
This year, Man City have won the treble, West Ham won their first trophy is decades, the World Snooker Championships delivered a classic tournament from start to finish, we have just had the best facing the best in the French Open, Wimbledon is about to start, England and Australia have just engaged in an epic Ashes first test.
Meanwhile, 3 of the 4 best heavyweights in the world haven't had a single fight this whole year, and the biggest events are Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury and the Misfits evenings. Its pathetic.
In fact, boxing these days seems to comprise social media interviews with promoters and not much else.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - September 2023
God almight, what a titanic shiteshow the entire division has become. All of them now just scrambling for the maximum payday. I blame the big names, but I also blame those looking for fights for them, they're only interested in fighting for megabucks, even though the fights are not really worth it.
We've got Fury and Wilder now both talking fighting N'gannou, Joshua fighting god knows who know, and Usyk maybe fighting Dubois - that looks to be the only fight likely to happen now.
I'm just bored stiff of the entire thing.

Its a very entertaining fight, but Wilder hasn't really got the chops to be considered anything more than a guy who managed to get and hold onto a belt in a pretty weak era.mickey1975 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 08:52Obviously, him, Groves and Foreman are now being called Fury nuthuggers…. Fury needs a defining fight, Usyk is likely the best opponent available for him in this era.

Meanwhile Fury seems to be indicating his fight is agreed to and about to be announced :
“I know I’ve said it a few times now, but I’m very excited. It’s here, it’s landed.”

Suleiman is merely selling a WBC asset .. if he had Usyk fronting his belt he'd say Usyk v AJ2 was the best ever .. Suliman is from the same mold as the Fury's for talking sh1t.Frostieballs wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 08:13If we are using Suliman as any kind of yardstick we are all in trouble.mickey1975 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 04:17 I don’t think tonyevs, The Gratest and co should listen to the George Groves podcast today. Fury v Wilder 3 was an entertaining edge of seat fight for sure. There were two evenly matched guys just forsaking any limited skills they had to just brawl ... It sure was a classic .. like a pugilistic Decca Heggie v Danny Christie
It was no doubt the icing on the cake of Fury's reign as WBC champion.
He is the UKs Nik Valuev .. big, ugly with a pretty poor reign at top

Valuev was never perceived as the top guy though. More like the weakest link in the chain despite the WBA title. The top two was Vitali and Wladimir. In Fury's case he's seen as the top guy, he just doesn't have a great title run.

And Foreman? Why would he say any Usyk-AJ fight was the best ever? Usyk is clearly better than AJ and the fights were poor! Really strange comment as there have been hundreds of WBC championship fights featuring all of the great names and he didn't choose any of thosetonyevs wrote: ↑22 Jun 2023, 02:27Suleiman is merely selling a WBC asset .. if he had Usyk fronting his belt he'd say Usyk v AJ2 was the best ever .. Have there been many trilogies in the last 10-15 years? Fury will be on Instagram later today claiming he's ready to take on Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerburg at the same time in the Cage...

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - September 2023
There's a poster on another forum who seems to know a bit of behind the scenes stuff when it comes to various governing bodies (mostly EBU). Most of what he posts about future match-ups ends up happening (he's said today that Essomba-Bourke for the European batamweight title is on the cards for this summer for instance).
He's posted that he's been told that last week the WBC knocked back a request for a Fury defence vs Wladimir.
