I wonder what the odds were on Thompson for this fight ? It was a stupid fight to take, Price needed to be fighting people to get confidence back before cashing in not take Thompson straight away

So, was this 10 years to the day that Mrs Thompson was going to need a wheelchair?

That was one of the weirdest, most outrageous things I've ever heard said post fight.

That and Glen Catley causally announcing to everyone that he had 'really bad diarrhea'.

He gonna break his wifes hips.

You can still donate money for a wheelchair. :TU:

Fury definitely ducked Price at the time. Maybe even a more blatant duck than the one he’s just done against Usyk :shame:

The footage is from the first fight. I was there. Echo was pretty much packed and the atmosphere was unreal, right until he got put on his arse. Maloney collapsed afterwards.

Second fight was the one where Price, helped by Lennox, decked Thompson but then got hurt pretty quickly after. And then the infamous interview....

aj world unified champ, casuals made a good pick

That was a great if boring shut out rematch of the guy who stopped him.

I remember Maloney burst into tears at ringside during a post fight interview after the second fight when asked if he done his money on promoting Price. Interview had to be stopped.

Andy Ruiz buster Douglas himself that night. AJ should have stopped him but played it safe.

Thompson failed a test, loaded on PEDs, I think the first three fighters to pay out Price were drug cheats

Yes he did himself no favours. Despite that, I doubt Joshua would have let him in past the jab. It was a clinic on how to safely beat a littler guy.

No surprise Price gets very emotional when it comes to PEDs as his first three defeats came to guys loaded on them

I quoted him in a Facebook update and a few days ago Facebook memories posted Thompson’s quote to me. Bought a much needed smile to me the old boat.

And it figured that Price might be able to keep it long and do similar in TT2

Ruthless-RKO wrote: 07 Jul 2023, 02:43 Did he ever show weak chin signs prior to the first Thompson fight?
Yeah he was on the canvas numerous times as an amateur and not always in the big Amateur championships. I remember him vs a Welsh lad in a 4 nations event, I think he got counted more than once in that one but came back to win.

Yes! Exactly. He had a lovely rangy power jab, but he always seemed to run out of steam with it after 4 or 5 rounds, sometimes less, then his hands dropped and he got caught.
I admit to believing he could win the rematch, Price just seemed to have so much going for him - height, reach, power, fundamentals, experience etc. He should have been all over Povetkin as well, keeping him at range.

price didnt have the mental game, stamina, or chin to make his offense gifts translate to wins at the higher levels unfortunetly.

most top fighters who are lacking in one of these areas make up in the other, eg khan was hurt easily but was very fit and full of heart and confidence
