Probably people should give it a rest with Fury, who clearly isn’t interested in anything serious this year. Joshua, Joyce and Dubios are your active heavyweights now.

Well you didn't type that, so you were wrong Doofy
It is correct to say that the two biggest U.K. fights were not promoted by Hearn.
But that's not what you claimed in the original post, and now you're just going off on a tangent to cover being wrong.
Be a man, show some courage, just admit you got it wrong instead of squirming around in a desperate attempt to cover it all up. :TU:
It’s pretty clear it was wrong. Acknowledging this hardly makes me a big man although you are behaving like a schoolgirl about it.
Fury’s fights drew 156,000 fans last year. No U.K. fighter has ever come close.

Sure thing BigSquirmy :TU:

(Except for Joshua v Parker + Joshua v Povetkin = 155,000 in 2018; and also Joshua v Wlad + Joshua v Takam = 165,000 in 2017  :KO: )
Another typo? :maybe:

My bad. I’d completely forgotten that Joshua was once as popular as Fury is now. It’s amazing that he has gone from 90,000 attendance to struggling to shift 19,000 last time. Why do you think so many punters have deserted him?

That’s what happens when you lose.. you can’t always be in a stadium. Fury will be an arena soon enough.

No worries BigSquirmy, you seem to be very forgetful in a one-sided manner whenever discussing Fury. Glad to be here to correct you. :TU:

I think the answer to your question is very simple. Choice of opponent and the fact he no longer has a world title. If you do a direct comparison to when Fury was without a title eg Pianeta, that had a crowd of 25,000, although the majority were there to watch Carl Frampton.
Again, if you do a direct comparison of the last world title fight Joshua had in the UK, against Usyk, that had a crowd of 66,000. Compare that to Fury v Chisora at the same stadium, 60,000 (with a few give-away freebies)and you can clearly see the choice of opponent is a factor.

So to conclude, Fury's best year falls short of Joshua's best year by around 9,000.
He also falls short by 6,000 at the same stadium.

Interesting stuff, thanks for bringing it up Doofers. :TU:

Grate comparisons.
Another way of looking at it is that the attendance for Fury’s last fight was over treble what Joshua’s last fight was.
The venue for Joshua’s next fight suggests his promoter knows that the public haven’t forgiven him for ducking Fury twice in 9 months.
It will be interesting to compare their next attendances.

I guess you didn't like those comparisons or answers, you couldn't even bring yourself to quote them.

They are both stadium fillers. If AJ took on Wilder in England instead of Saudi Arabia it would do huge attendance figures.

Fury is big box office, too. Both AJ and Fury have lost a bit of lustre, though: AJ through back to back defeats to Uysk, and Fury because of his clear unwillingness to face Uysk.

I guess there are enough impressionable youngsters to fill a stadium to watch Fury in another sparring match against a no hoper, but the scales have fallen from the eyes of the wider public, boxing fans, media and his peers. That is a big change in circumstances. He's done that to himself though - mugged the public off too many times.

Big Doofus, I noticed you side stepped my question about whether you worry about the safety of a non boxer ( Ngannou) in a boxing match with one of the Heavyweight Champions (Fury).

Tyson against Ngannou is a joke.

It gets announced this week and makes boxing a laughing stock

Why does the WBC allow him bottle a fight against Uysk?

100%. I wont consider him a serious boxer if its made. hes obv retired and on cruise & collect mode. I'd rather he sail off into the sunset. and I was a big fan. He should be stripped at the least and let the serious fighters duke it out.

It gets announced possibly tomorrow certainly this week.

In my opinion its an exhibition with a contract restricting Ngannou from breathing

It will be WWE style at its very worst

The WBC are aware that Usyk turned down a title show in December and then, according to his own promoter, he walked away from negotiations to fight in April. They ordered their no’s 1 and 2 to fight to be mandatory. The no.3 turned down 2 title shots in 9 months.

Team Fury propaganda.

Fury never even bothered getting his trainer in for the April 29th date, never bothered getting a training camp set up, never bothered getting any sparring partners set up. He had no desire or will to fight Usyk back in April.

i think the 3rd wilder fighter used up all of his (once considerable) bottle. he knows hes not the same or he wouldn't be making silly fights like this and chisora 3. he was a great fighter in his time mind.

Totally agree. To get up off the floor in a fight, especially when your opponent is a formidable puncher, and waiting for you, requires a huge amount of courage.

But, I do think Uysk called his bluff and Fury is now going down the pantomime/WWE route instead.

They are not going to strip somebody when they are not forcing mandatories. If he completely refused to face a mandatory that's the only circumstance in which you would have your belts stripped.

Usyk never was or has been a mandatory in the WBC.

Nganu would be the biggest pisstake ever and fury’s credibility would be through the floor…

I kinda hope it happens because nganu held strong against Dana white paying peanuts… would love to see nganu get silly amounts of Saudi money just too show others it’s possible and scare uncle Dana… (I like ufc but Dana is too cocky)

any resume can be picked apart but fury has old klit, wilder, Whyte and old chisora… if he isn’t going to fight usyk he really needs to add some depth, because if AJ sparks Whyte in august wilder in December (big if) fury’s resume is left looking like a bag of dicks…

Yea, he suggested it as a bit of a freak show of the back of 2 losses when aj had no belts. He later pretty much took it back and said AJ was focused on his career not a gimmick…

Weird how fury fans try say fury is 105746636785 times better than Aj, but then also try hold them to the same standard. Even when one’s world champ and the others rebuilding from 2 losses (cause he actually fought usyk)

I was just checking it was the same guy. Thanks for the confirmation.
