I agree. I thought Dubois looked very relaxed. Both fighters did. I like this kind of build up. No needle, everyone relaxed and both guys will go to work in the ring on the night.Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 13:59We are not going to get much off a presser- I was just happy to see him look relatively relaxed and ready for workjameswilson wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 12:15Are those the only two options?Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 11:16

Dubois is listed as 6'5", but looks quite taller than the alleged 6'3" Usyk. How sure are we that Usyk is 6'3" or was Dubois wearing lifts?
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois | TNT Sports PPV - 26 August 2023
Usyk looked every inch as tall as the 6'3" Paris Fury

I don't think Dubois is comfortable in any of the front of camera situations, he's just not that sort of personality. That doesn't translate to not being comfortable inside the ring (although, on this occasion, it probably will be an uncomfortable situation).

Is it going to be one of those demonstrations of levels in boxing, with Usyk just boxing Dubios’ ears off? Or a demonstration of power, where the cruiserweight moving up gets run over eventually. For my money, Dubios probably is no better than long forgotten 90’s dangermen like Derrick Jefferson, and will get well beaten.

I agree. Dubois is nothing special, just a big lump with a big punch. Plus he is inexperienced. He has the potential to make the first few rounds uncomfortable with his power but once Usyk gets past those rounds he will take over.polecateddy wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 05:48 Is it going to be one of those demonstrations of levels in boxing, with Usyk just boxing Dubios’ ears off? DDD has been badly managed by warren - should never have been in with Joyce it was way too soon in his career and the lerena fight was a farce - now he is ready to beat Usyk ???
Warren didnt even bother to go to the PR show yesterday and sent a TV presenter to represent his side .

1---- Take pressure off Fury
2 --- Hope and pray he lands a hail mary punch , then arrange for Fury to fight DD if a miracle hapenned
DD , Love to see him , score the lucky punch then demand 70-30 has the champ . At least he'll be on a decent payday

Was a decent favourite in the Joyce fight. Took a loss, has fought no one scary since, picked up a “world title” fucked about and now he is getting a couple of million and a punchers chance at 3 belts… in a fight where even if he gets absolutely destroyed no one will hold against him and he can absolutely rebuild and go again…. I think DDD has been very well managed.stevec@france wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 11:02 DDD has been badly managed by warren - should never have been in with Joyce it was way too soon in his career and the lerena fight was a farce - now he is ready to beat Usyk ???

I get all of that and financially he’s been well manoeuvred since the Joyce loss. The fight against Bogdan Dinu for the WBA interim in the fight straight after Joyce was a master stroke.gregregegg wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 16:53Was a decent favourite in the Joyce fight. However his opposition pre Joyce didn’t properly prepare him and I’d say the same now for the Usyk fight. Pre Joyce it was mostly unknown guys with pretty records but who were well out of their depth. Gorman was the only test but he’d been struggling with a poorly child in the run up which wouldn’t have helped him. Since Joyce, whilst I didn’t mind the Lerena none of them would be in a genuine world’s top 20 and now he’s facing one of the very best, if not the best.

Given his obvious limitations, I think Dubois has been managed/promoted fantastically.

-At the time gorman was kinda rated at time... Bookies had DDD only a 60-40 favorite.
-At the time bookies had DDD a solid favotire vs joyce... Bookies had DDD an 80-20 favorite.
so its hard to say he was undercooked for joyce when not many people saw it untill afterwards
AS for being underprepared for usyk.... they tried. kevin lerena was a supurb pick if your trying to prepare for usyk.... 6,1 225lb southpaw.... its just that fight went weird so they didnt get much of the benifit (other than the camp).... so sure he probably isnt ready but his managment got him a smart prep fight but unfortunatly the mando got called bit early for them, but cant turn it down.... (ps it is very very likely that no version of DDD would ever be prepared for usyk...)
The good thing about being a bit undercooked for this usyk fight is, it should keep him raw, and if he loses he should be able to get back to world levle by the time usyk and Fury vacate or retire...

I also liked the Gorman fight when it was made but whilst Gorman has never looked in great shape it was pretty clear that he was in really poor condition for it. He then fought Tetteh, Fujimoto and Snijder, none of whom I’d have of before and I don’t think they’ve done anything since.
I also wonder whether Bowers/Warren should have been firmer with Daniel around his split with Shane. He was clearly developing under Shane but has now left after his dad fell out with his sister. I think we can all probably agree that it’s prep going in to the Usyk fight with his first fight working with Don Charles but surely you’d expect a manager or even potentially a promoter to step in and resolve it before it gets that far.

hugely over hyped puncher dubois should get routinely outpointed by the dull Usyk.
if i was dubois i would come out swinging like Bonecrusher v Witherspoon ...just go bonkers for the KO
Firpo or go home

What a lot of people are overlooking is DDD has already won a title on the road so won’t be afraid to go into the lions den.
