Poor decision by DAZN ..mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 05:08I think this fight was insisted on by DAZN. Eddie more or less said so. They haven't had an AJ PPV yet and who knowsmwhat the tv situation will be for Wilder.

We don’t know yet.. who they will cater for. US or UK fans.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 02:29What makes you think Fury/Ngannou is going to be at a daft time? I’d imagine it’ll be 9pm U.K. time similar to the AJ fights in Saudi and then in the afternoon US time.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 19:45 UK?
Might just be AJ-Whyte.
UK prime time.
Fury-Ngannou is daft o clock.
Both will be heavily streamed illegally.
I do hope it’s UK time. But we’ve seen it many times. Big fight different side of the world and they cater for US fans. More revenue involved.

Tricky one. Theyre probably hoping a lot of ufc fans buy it.
Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
It's a dilemma for sure ..
Social media comments suggest UK boxing fans are wise to the Fury's nonsense about now, so it's squarely dependant on the MMA casuals buying into it - especially the much bigger audience in America.
But Dana appears to be rubbishing it, and liked or loathed, Dana has a lot of influence.

Don't read too much into the comments. Most of the people there haven't bought a ticket in their lives and are negative on everything. It certainly didn't stop Fury v Del selling, did it? If you listened to the comments online it would have been empty apart from giveaways... there wasn't a giveaway to be had!tonyevs wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 06:03 It's a dilemma for sure ..

Has Saudi ever catered for the US? They’re putting the money up for it and if they don’t get big US PPV buys then so be it. They don’t seem to look at it as a way to maximise the revenue.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 05:41We don’t know yet.. who they will cater for. It’s a show to sports wash the country and for the wealthy of Saudi to go to. I can’t see them having them still out at 4am to help US PPV sales.
They pay WWE $50m a show and the biggest market for that is the US yet don’t change the timings for it to maximise Us viewership.

Yeh you’re right. They cater for themselves don’t they..maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 14:49 They pay WWE $50m a show and the biggest market for that is the US yet don’t change the timings for it to maximise Us viewership.
Like watching that in the UK prime time.
I know when UFC did the Abu Dhabi, that was definitely catered for US, but then that’s not Saudi.
Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
Bit early to predict, as it is still some time off.
But I spoke to some lads who jumped on the Fury bandwagon in time for Whyte Wembley fight, who actively even tried to buy tickets for Fury v Chisora 3. They are basically the type who just want to go to big events. Which I would guess is exactly the crowd this fight is aimed at.
But after the Usyk fight fell through they have fully jumped off the Fury bandwagon. They hadn't heard of Ngannou either, and didn't seem interested at all if it wasn't against "that Ukrainian fella" for undisputed.
But that may change closer to the date of course.

I dont know how many UK buys DAZN gets, if it was in Sky I'd go for AJ Whyte world wide Fury Ngannou will do bigger numbers.

Tommy Fury v Ksi
Will be by far be the biggest ppv event in2023
Fury v Ngannou will not get close to
It and in my view charging £26.99 ppv sub plus £10.99 for the AJ will mean that fight wont even scratch the surface

So Dana has put a fairly big card in the middle east the week befor... dont know if its intentional or if it wil have any significant effect but it feels important.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 17:52 Partialy depends on what the UFC do..... Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
If I was still in the UK, I wouldn't pay for either. Not Joshua v Whyte (despite the undercard) due to the PPV pricing. I wouldn't pay for Fury v Ngannou either as it is basically the same level as YouTube boxing (which I personally have no interest in). I would however pay for Usyk v Dubois, as I get to see the P4P#1 and Heavyweight World Champion defend his titles.
As a Brit in Japan, I will be paying to watch Joshua v Whyte on DAZN Global, and if Usyk v Dubois isn't being shown in Japan (Queensberry don't seem to have deals with anyone over here), I'll get a VPN and purchase the pay-per-view through an international broadcaster to support the fight. Because as a fan of boxing, I want to support real boxing events as much as possible, even if my purchase is a drop in the ocean.
BTW, how popular is Youtube Boxing in the UK? As that could be the deciding factor of Fury v Ngannou outselling the other two. I noticed in the comments for the youtube trailer of "At Home With The Furys" the vast majority of comments were about wanting to see more of Tommy Fury. lol

It will probably raise interest in the Fury fight. Loads of questions asked at pressers, media out there a week earlier, etc.gregregegg wrote: ↑21 Jul 2023, 17:56So Dana has put a fairly big card in the middle east the week befor... dont know if its intentional or if it wil have any significant effect but it feels important.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 17:52 Partialy depends on what the UFC do..... Re: Which Fight Gets More UK PPV Buys?
These will both bomb in UK ppv. Dazn have lost a lot of goodwill since changed their model and the fury fight has already been called out as a disappointment by Talksport/sky/podcasts who usually build up the novelty fights.

With respect, this is complete nonsense. Both will sell well, in particular the Fury one unfortunately

All we hear about these days is cost of living crisis. Wonder if that will have any impact on PPV sales. Doubt many people have got the disposable income to be spunking away on rubbish like this.

Especially in the UK - everyone is seeing a significant increase in their monthly spending; gas/electric bills a lot more, food costing a lot more .. my car insurance has gone up £150 a year despite over 20yrs without an accidental/claim.
I think people (in UK) will be more mindful what they spending.
I don't see boxing fans buying Fury v Ngannou because the general opinion is it's a freak/YouTube type event. And with Dana putting UFC 294 event on the weekend before, that could absorb the UFC/MMA crowds disposable money that month.
AJ v Whyte won't do any better though.
