Hatton vs Mbaye - could this still be forced?

Post by stujones »

I was speaking to Kurt Ermhoff regarding Mbaye vs Balbi, although (and I stress) NO formal discussions is being held he is scouting these as a possible avenue for Dimitry Salita.

Anyway, I was discussing what will Mbaye's future be (should he win) while it looks like Hatton will either remain at Welter or fight for his IBF title. I was asking this cause I doubt Mbaye will sell any tickets outside of France.

Anyway, according to Kurt (who works as a lawyer) the court case between Hatton and Team Mbaye is still going on in the states. I don't know why this is the case, Hatton lost his WBA title as a result (I'll alledge that it must be something to do with loss of earnings).

Kurt believes (for safe measure alledegly) that Hatton vs Mbaye could very well still happen. Not sure why he thinks this will ask him now.

Just wandering if anyone has more details on this ongoing saga - I thought it was over when Hatton got stripped.

You can't force him to fight someone, that's slavery.

No but you could make it very hard to refuse, i.e. make Mbaye a pay day as opposed to making a pay out - alledgely.

Hatton should get that belt back after he gets the IBF one back and then fight Witter for the WBC. :TU:

Hatton is heading for a bout with Castillo after the Urango fight. Hatton v Castillo is the fight everyone wants to see at 140.

To be honest I will wait and see how Hatton looks in his next fight before making any prediction of a Castillo fight. While the move up in weight and court cases could have been factors Hatton certainly hasn't looked at his best in his last 2 fights. Will be interesting to see how he looks against Urango.
