Super Bantamweighs: Wilfredo Gomez vs Marco Antonio Barrera

Who wins this fight???

It would be a war from start to finish. I pick Gomez by late TKO.

Elmer

A close one with nice style match ups. I probably missed out on a lot of peak Gomez fights and possibly underrtae him. I'd take MAB on points.

I've got most of Gomez' fights and I have followed Barrera since his early days at the Great Western Forum and I really like both fighters immensly, but I think Gomez was just too talented all around and would do to Barrera what Pac did, only quicker.

Gomez not only hit unnaturally hard with either hand, he was very well balanced in every area of a fighter...great skills, great speed, endurance, chin, combination punching...he did it all way above average...nf fact, about the only weakness that I would say that he had was his lack of training and his enjoyment of the "night-life."

Gomez-Pintor is one of the best fights I have ever seen, hell, it's one of the best fights anyone has ever seen...as was Barrera-Morales I...two great fighters, but I just think Gomez had more all around!

barry my guess is that you would translate that to Morales as well, what's your take on a Gomez Pac fight?

I think Gomez would have an easier time with Pac than he would with Barrera, or Morales. I think Gomez would just overwhelm Pac, taking him completely out of his boxing mode and into the one-punch left bomb throwing mode that Pac will often revert to, which he has been able to get away with while facing opponents like Marquez, but Gomez would control the fight and quickly beat Pac down with body and head combo's stopping him pretty early...two, or three rounds. Now of course Pac could always land a big haymaker, but I would look for it and about the only thing that Pac would have an advantage in would possibly be in overall speed, but not by much as Gomez was fast as well.

Great view barry. Wilfredo was probably too strong in that weight class. He iin this weigth class was so formidable, complete and fast.
