Too bad no footage of the Ali-Ingo exhibition. Doug Jones was a character in Manchild of the Promised Land.

Interesting to see the size difference there

I remembered Ellis being smaller when they fought. But Ellis weight 160lb the year before this and would likely have been around 174 here. Doesn't even look that judging by his build

Jimmy Ellis also severly bruised Muhammad Ali's ribs during a sparring session just before the second fight with Liston.

Does anyone have any proof / confirmation that the following exhibitions did indeed occur:

10/28/1965 - Freeport, Bahamas
05/xx/1969 - Buster Mathis in Grand Rapids, Michigan
02/26/1971 - Ron Lyle
08/xx/1971 - Barbados
08/xx/1971 - Jamaica
09/xx/1971 - Uruguay
09/29/1971 - Pointe a Pitre, Guadaloupe
10/11/1971 - Paris
01/xx/1972 - UAE (Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Kuwait)
03/xx/1973 - George Chuvalo in Pennsylvania
10/14/1973 - Surabaya, Indonesia
07/28/1977 - Newcastle, England
08/12/1977 - London, England
xx/xx/1980 - Mike Rossman in Chicago, Illinois
10/xx/1982 - Pakistan
xx/xx/1984 - Kevin Porter in Kalamazoo, Michigan

I have seen mentions of a number of them, as well as some video of a few, but no mentions in any day-after papers talking about the exhibition, where it took place, date, etc. etc.
I will be putting out a much more detailed listing than the one referenced above in the next week or so after I finish checking a few more possibilities (as well as checking any information supplied from the above request).

1. I'm not convinced the Lyle video was for an exhibition...seemed more like a planned sparring session (with Ali training for the Frazier fight);

2. I believe that is from the July 16th exhibition in Newcastle...I think the July 28th date is a typo someone made previously but just trying to make sure.

Thank you for putting these on here...very helpful.

according to an article in EMPIRE newspaper, published just a day before THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY (March 1971)
the Ali vrs Lyle sparring session was on Saturday January 30th at the Fifth Street Gym, Miami Beach Florida
CBS 60 Minutes brought Lyle to the Gym to spar 2 ,three minute rounds with Ali for the camera,
then later that night. they flew to the Concord Hotel in the Catskills New York to spar with Joe Frazier on Sunday, but Frazier's management did not want Frazier to spar with an amateur, because Frazier never took it easy, so Lyle sparred with Ken Norton instead.
The source for this information is the book, OFF THE ROPES ,The Ron Lyle Story pp 102-103.

I think his 1977 'Newcastle ' exhibition was actually Washington , Wearside and was against Richard Dunn ...

On January 30th 1971, Ron Lyle was brought down to Miami Beach by CBS-TV specifically to get in the ring with Muhammad Ali
and go two-three minute rounds with "The Greatest" for the TV cameras for their 60 minutes tv show
Two rounds and then there were off to the Catskills for Joe Frazier.
How would you NOT call that an 'Exhibition" ?
the segment aired February 1971 on CBS-TV
