Leigh Wood:

“In the Lara rematch I felt sharp in between my ears and physically. I feel those fights, with tiny little breaks while still training, has put me in a good position.

“I’ve got my girls with me and I’m taking them on training camp with me tomorrow as well. I’ve got my boxer and parenting head on.

“Obviously I wanted this fight to happen at the City Ground. That was my dream – and still is. That being said, we are meeting halfway in Sheffield, at the Utilita Arena, and it is going to make for an unbelievable atmosphere with a 50/50 split down the arena.

“I’ve done that before, of course, when I fought Michael Conlan. The walkouts then were something special and, of course, this time we’ve both got even bigger followings, in a bigger arena and we have BOTH of our football clubs behind us too. I can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere. I know it will be quite hostile with both sets of fans battling it out vocally, but it should make for a great night.

“I don’t take confidence from knowing Lara beat Josh and that I beat Lara. I take confidence in the fact that I know I’m the better fighter. It has taken me so long for me to prove this and I’ve waited a long time for this fight to happen.

“I’ve been goading Josh for years, even sending him videos on Twitter when I was in ’No Man’s Land’ and not getting big fights or really getting a look in. I was in a bad place and didn’t have a promoter. Now we’ve come full circle, where I’m the reigning champion and defending against Josh. It’s quite unbelievable.”

Terri Harper will clash with former world pound-for-pound #1 female boxer Cecilia Braekhus for the WBA and WBO S154-pound titles at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, England on Saturday October 7th, live worldwide on DAZN. Harper-Braekhus will serve as the chief support bout for Leigh Wood’s WBA featherweight title defense against former two-time IBF champion Josh Warrington. Harpe and Braekhus were originally slated to square off for Harper’s WBA crown on the historic Katie Taylor vs. Chantelle Cameron show in Dublin earlier this year, but Braekhus was forced to withdraw from their fight on the morning of the event due to an illness.

A former WBC and IBO 130-pound champion, Harper (13-1-1 6 KOs) won the WBA 154-ound title by outpointing Scotland’s Hannah Rankin in Nottingham in September last year – her first fight at junior middleweight. Norway’s Braekhus (37-2, 9 KOs), a former undisputed ruler at 147 pounds, is attempting to become a two-division champion. ‘First Lady’, a modern pioneer of women’s boxing, held the WBC and WBA championships at welterweight from 2009 to 2020, also picking up the WBO title in 2010 and the IBF title in 2014. Braekhus lost the titles by majority decision to Jessica McCaskill in August 2020 in Downtown Tulsa, USA and lost again in a rematch in Dallas in March 2021. McCaskill is the only fighter to have beaten Braekhus as a professional.

“The fight went down really well with the fans the first time and it would’ve been a shame for it to have never happened,” said Harper. “I’m excited and grateful to everyone for making it happen again and it’ll be even more special this time with the opportunity of unifying the division.

He needs to take 10 steps backs , 10 big breaths , and look at it through different lenses , the other guy did'nt win , THEY LOST , they were doing a real good job but took there foot of the gas towards the end , , you just can't do that when your fighting the house boxer . Looking you had to say they were boxing better , but just stopped winning rnds clearly and let him in .

Warrington Vows: "I Will Be Firing on All Cylinders Against Leigh Wood"

According to the former beltholder, he's ready to prove the doubters wrong.

“I feel great. I feel mentally at my peak. Physically, I know that I now need to have one or two more days off than I used to have, because I understand the importance of rest now. I used to be able to train twenty times a week, but my dad said that I need to slow down. That’s one of the things that you learn from experience," Warrington told Betfred.

“My boxing brain has developed a lot over the years and perhaps I’ve been considered the older fighter out of the two of us because I’ve been in the big fights for such a long time, headlining shows for the past ten years and being on the world stage for knocking on six years.

“Look at my last fight, I lost by a majority decision but I thought I had done enough. If that went my way I would have been walking away as champion. I will be firing on all cylinders October 7th and when I get the win people are going to be saying, ‘Warrington’s back to his best’. It’s the nature of our boxing fans I guess.”

“If I get to the end of my career and I’ve not achieved that, then I would be a little disappointed. I genuinely have supporters who have credit cards ready to go and they have for a long time. If I get through this fight, then that’s what I will be pursuing," Warrington said.
