Quit with the Helenius abuse. The man lasted almost a round with Wilder and has just beaten a guy who, although he had never fought anyone with a winning record before, was undefeated in his extensive 6 fight career.

Holds a win on paper over a peak Chisora as well. :box:

He was just one of a sting of losses for Chisora at the time. If Chisora actually had a peak it was perhaps a couple of years prior to losing to Helenius.

Many said it was Chisora's performance against Helenius that got him the Vitali fight. A lot of people thought Chisora won. It seems to be a constant thing with Chisora's style that he ends up being in close fights.

I would probably say in hindsight his athletic peak was probably 2011-2012 (aged around 28)
But his peak as a heavyweight seemed to come much later after he amassed experience and put a run of solid wins together around 2018-2019 (age around 36).

Even when he was KO'd by Whyte in the second fight, I still think that was partially because of the erroneous points deduction which made Chisora gamble in a fight which he looked to be winning on the cards. The fight against Kabayel in 2017 is a bit of an abirritation though. He looked listless and like he had accepted pre-fight he was just there to lose to be a name on the other guy's resume.

Now though, aged 39? The guy is well past his prime after so many gruelling bouts.

the helenius fight wasnt close, del dominated , mightve been the worst decision of the year along with williams-lara. here it is in robbery of the year awards https://tinyurl.com/99k3e8tx and also a contemporary report on it being a robbery (117-111 they scored it) https://www.badlefthook.com/2011/12/3/2 ... t-decision and sports illustrated having it 119-109 https://www.si.com/boxing/2011/12/04/th ... tkins-wins. del hugely outworked and outlanded helenius in that fight, absolutely no basis to score it for helly. 118-110 for me.

otherwise i agree re close fights. parker 1 and whyte 1 could've gone either way, pulev 2 and kabayel very close too.

Dazn must be regretting their worldwide exclusive with him...
He's not the only promoter on DAZN, Michael.

Oh, so you AJ bashing again, now there's a surprise. You think DAZN are regretting broadcasting the third best heavyweight in the world? More biased nonsense from you.

I don't think they will be happy how it's turned out, hence the restructuring of the deal. Do you think they'll have been happy with losing the Usyk fight to Sky, getting Franklin and then Helenius on normal subscription?

well its a bit like the weather - beyond anyones control so they will have to readjust and make the best of it for now - but keep everyone sweet for the saudi mega bonanza that has been dangled - if that ever actually materialises with proper boxers .

Helenius is a 5 day substitute, no one with a brain could be unhappy with that.

The Usyk deal was already done.

Franklin was a rebuild fight, which is a bit like Sefer Seferi. Remember him?

If history tells us anything, it's that a short notice substitute is dangerous, no matter how many losses they've had. Remember when Bert Cooper gave Holyfield hell at late notice. This is the same Cooper who lost in two rounds to an up-and-coming Bowe and quit on his stool after two against Foreman.

There are exceptions to every rule but the vast majority of short notice substitutes get beaten badly.

I'm not denying that, I'm saying that late subs can cause an unexpected upset. Ruiz already proved that.

I'm not denying it happens occasionally either but coming in at short notice means you come in underprepared and that's why most late replacements get creamed.

Apart from Whyte's failed drug test and its consequences, yes. I've got a question for you, which you've ignored in the right thread. Why do you think Fury insisted on a rematch clause against a 36 year old debutant, but refused to accept one against the WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring magazine champion?

Stop trying to make every thread about Tyson, you're obsessed with the guy. I think we will have to disagree the DAZN deal has gone well. No problem.
