no, but is it a conspiracy theory, when this one was conducted in plain sight...

1) friends - check
2) long time sparring partners (under the watchful eye of Malik "Scuba" Scott) - check
3) same promoter - check
4) career subservient to wilder's - check
(same card three times in a row, instead of pushing on with WBA after an eliminator win over Kownacki, his whole career was put on hold for over two years until Wilder needed him)
5) For the WBC tournament, the PBC hand picked Helenius - check
(four PBC fighters, they matched #1 ranked Wilder against #10 ranked Helenius )
6) an arm punch. A dive - check
7) I have some magic beans to sell you - check

Edit: all jokes aside, I'm hoping the Helenius who upset the apple cart against Kownacki turns up and makes a fight of it. Looking forward to this card.

What is Robert's motivation to take said dive?

Money

Present and future earnings. He has resultantly established himself as a safe pair of hands and a team player (much like Scott). Now he has the Joshua fight.

Or he could have tried to beat Wilder, have the ref and the judges against him, and be branded with the scarlet letter by all promoters.

He is at that stage of his career where he is likely looking at where does he go from here. PBC not allowing him to pursue the WBA route would have been a siren going off to say "you ****d up"

You're talking complete bollocks. If Helenius beat Wilder, he would get a fortune for the rematch or unlock a fight Fury or AJ.

He got hit clean with a lead right hand, in the act of throwing, by a massive punching heavyweight,. History is littered with guys getting knocked out in the act of throwing. Did RJJ throw the second Tarver fight as well?
