Does Conor Benn have fans?

Post by leejonesjnr »

I accept that I might be wildly out of touch with the general public but listening to Benn talk on 5 Live just now it sounded bizarre to me when he repeatedly said ‘I want to give the fans what they want, me in mega fights’.
Does he have a lot of fans? Is that what people want to see?

I said in the big thread that as unhappy as we’d all be about it I bet his next fight is a sellout.

Well he's got his dad his biggest fan . Other than that he's got Eddie , but i suspect that will only last for a couple more fights , probably 2-3 , these will be the gimmee comeback ease into it fights , where he seels lots and Eddie makes back his investment , then there will be a real fight against a good fighter for a title , where he gets smashed and Eddie decided he don't want to be his freind anymore

He’s never had them before. I suppose he’s a much bigger name now.

Exactly. Cassius Clay/early Ali was intensely disliked by the public, so was Chris Eubank, but some people pay in the hope they get there gob shut,

Stop being silly. YouTubers would not have beaten the professional boxers that Benn has. Personally, When he eventually gets back in the ring, lots of people will want to see him get his face smashed in., some will to see it.

He (Benn) is calling out old old ex-Champions (Kell and PAC) and a guy who would be severely weight drained. The “known” pros he has beaten were aged and on the slide. These are facts.
Hope he gets a good warm up to protect his “ranking”. Then gets fed to Boots or someone who has actually earned a ranking.

He seems to have done pretty well for himself, so he must generate some interest.

He seems serious with a few beers down him.

I know someone like him, quite a quiet and polite bloke sober and wants to fight the world when drunk, he is about 60, 5"2 and 7 stone too.

Yeah but hes one of them blokes ye wouldnt take serious in the slightest. Especially in person. With a few beers hes like the town fool at 7 stone ( probably less) but sober a very genuine nice harmless guy. Even drunk hes harmless tbh haha :bag:

I’m sceptical about this. He’s never actually headlined a show & sold tickets as the main draw other than the Benn - Eubank bill that never happened & I think we all know why that sold.

I can’t imagine he’s got much of a fan base & I don’t think he’s well known enough for people to pay to watch him lose.

I don’t think he’d sell many tickets headlining against a foreign opponent or even a Brit that isn’t well known.

His big hope has to be to get a win over a past it Kell Brook or a drained Eubank.

I’m not sure, although from what I’ve seen on YouTube/internet, he seems well past his first million. Not bad at that age.

Is he selling out vs Essuman or McKinson?

No is the answer. Most people think the lad is a cheat, lets be honest. His antics after the test fail have only made him even more unlikeable.

Is the young generation that thick that they would proclaim themselves as his fans?

I highly doubt it. He needs a good dance partner to make a big event. He needs to beat that guy very convincingly to put himself over.
