I haven't seen this mentioned and not seen it promoted well but this should be an interesting film. Doesn't even look like there's a trailer out yet.
The Featherweight (September 2023)
Set in 1964, a camera crew follows Willie Pep, retired featherweight boxing champion. Down and out in Hartford CT, married to a woman half his age and with a drug-addled son and mounting debts, Pep decides to make a return to the ring.

What an interesting project that appears to be. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Re: The Featherweight - Willie Pep movie (2023)
Here is some more info about this soon to be released film.
James Madio will play Willie Pep
Lawrence Gillard Jr will play Sandy Saddler
Louis Vanaria with play "the event organizer" (when Pep made his comeback he worked with Don Elbaum so maybe this is who this role is portraying?)
Up and coming boxing star Bruce "Shu Shu" Carrington plays "Goose". Spoke with Shu Shu at the recent Frank Martin weigh in, he is a great kid and this is now his second film he has had a role in - good for him!
Veteran actor Ron Livingstone also is in the film but I cant remember who he is playing.

I definitely hope to see it at some point. I figure it probably won't get a theatrical release, but I'll seek it out somewhere, someday.
